Overload was back on the air after a near two month hiatus, and how does the return kick off? With the entrance theme of none other then "The Franchise".
Tony: It looks like we're not going to have to wait to here from "The Man You Love To Hate", does it?
Willy: Don't hate, Tony. Congratulate. O'Dell proved once again why he's the best of the best of THE BEST in XWA. I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
Tony: That makes one of us...
Scott enters the ring as the AT&T Center crowd showers him with boos. But nothing in the world could ruin Scott's mood right now. After calling for a mic, he begins.
I'm going to start off tonight by saying four words: "I Told You So."
The boos of the fans increase.
What part of "I'm the best in the game today" don't people hear? What? Do you all think I talk just to hear my own voice? Do you think I enjoy hearing it's velvet texture? Well...I actually do *Heh heh heh*, but that's aside from the point. The point tonight is I said I was the odds on favorite to win the OTS Tournament, and here I stand...WINNER of the OTS Tourney and the last man into The Last Dance. And could there truly be anything less then that? Could you truly have the biggest match of XWA's season without XWA's biggest star in it? No, you couldn't. But we did see some galant efforts did we not? I mean, Christian Pryce stepped up and gave the best damn performance of his career against me. But sadly, his best wasn't good enough. And speaking of just missing the boat, how about Johnny Aces? Did he not give his all in his 2nd round match? Or the two rookies Davis and Browne. They showed flashes of brilliance, didn't they? And Pollox? Brother, I'll tell you now that I know one day you and I will meet in the ring again. I look forward to it. Punch? Well...I doubt he even cares he lost. But then that leaves one man left. The man I faced in the finals. Marcus Samson.
The fans cheer at the mention of Samson.
The self proclaimed "Superman" of XWA. *Heh heh heh* If you're Superman, I guess that makes me Batman, doesn't it? Because no matter what you threw at me, I had an answer for it. And you spoke so highly about you being the guy to...what was it you said? "Shut me up?" I guess that's the "Humble Pie" Jimmy's always talking about, because I gave you a nice, piping hot slice of it with whipped cream and a cherry on top. I am pound for pound the best pure wrestler in XWA. Or at least the best not born in Europe. The reason I stand ahead of the pack isn't because of my gift with a mic here, though I do have quite the gift. It's because when the lights are bright and the stakes are at they're highest, I raise my game to a level that no one...No one...in this business can reach. I out-skilled you, I out-though you, and I out-wrestled you. Don't get me wrong, you're good, Marc. Maybe even good enough to be a champion, or World Champ one day. But my title's just a bit higher then a champ. I'm The Franchise. The bench mark. The measuring stick. And whether you, any of these fans, or anyone in the sport ever cares to admit it, I'll always be one step ahead of the pack.
Tony: The absolute arrogance of this man. What makes it even more harder to swallow is no matter what he always backs it up.
Willy: It's called "The Intangibles". All of the greats have had it, and Scotty's got it to spare, baby.
Now lets take a look into November, shall we? XGames II. The Last Dance. Three spots filled. On one side we have Tommy Tryton, The War Games "War Chief", we have myself, "The Strongest" and then we have Marc's good buddy Syrus The Entertainer, "The Soul Survivor". I know we're in Texas and all, but that's a script that Bruckheimer would be proud of. Two, count 'em...two of the three members of The Headliners in the XGames Main Event. Does that not tell you something people? I mean, I've been sayin' it for months now. Under my guidance, Tryton's become one of if not the best up and comer in XWA. And of course we know what I bring to the table. And then we have Syrus. Who's been to the top of the mountain this year, but just like me, didn't have an answer for Ethan Bain. You and I Syrus have had two completely different runs in this business. You've become the star you are with style and flair. You come out and put on a show for these people, and they love ya' for it. And who am I to knock anyone's success? The common thread that each man in The Last Dance waiting for the Champion to emerge from The Devil's Playground is that we're all self-made men. Tryton made himself by turning his back to these dimwits and realizing that they were'nt going to get him ahead, only he could do that himself. I made myself in this business by doing what I say I'm going to do. When O'Dell says he'll deliver...he does. And you? You've made yourself by picking your fights wisely and making the most of when the lights are shining on you. Less we forget around this time last year you just came onto the scene and had not only Jon Payne, you partner at OTS, but former XWA superstar and associate of mines Brent Starr in your crosshairs.
Scott nods and adds...
But here we are, looking down the road to XGames. A road that's left us here in Texas. And they love big things here in Texas. So I figure, if there's ever a bigger thing that could happen here tonight, it's one Syrus The Entertainer standing in this ring, one on one...against "The Franchise".
The fans in the arena boom with an explosive cheer at the prospect.
Tony: STE Vs. O'Dell? Now THAT'S big!!!
But that's not gonna happen tonight, folks. Because I know that Marc's itchin' to get some payback from me beating him. So instead, let's make this a tag team match. You and Marcus Samson, The Odd Couple of XWA teamed up once again, tonight...against me and a partner of my own choosing. Is it gonna me Tommy? Is it gonna me Alston? No, no, no. I already have my partner chosen tonight. But before I reveal him, I want you to come on down to the ring and join me, Syrus. And if you want, you're free to tag along too, Marc. Let's make this interesting.
Scott shows off his classic grin. He waits for the arrival of either man.
