After what is considered to be one of the most exciting XWA World Heavyweight Championship matches in XWA history. Brandon Payne comes just shy of winning the World Championship. The match literately went down to the wire where every grapple, every strike, and every counter had to count. For as one false move would prove to be one man's downfall.
For the grueling 17 minutes. Payne gave XXL everything he had. For on this day, it was XXL who wanted to win this match more. One man's destiny was achieved tonight. XXL proved without a shadow of a doubt that he is indeed the 'Best Big Man in the Business'.
Payne pulled himself up to his feet. Using the ring ropes for leverage to balance himself. The referee tries to help him up, but Payne refuses to let anyone help him. He wasn't about to walk out of this arena with the referee's help or on some stupid stretcher. Payne was gonna man up and walk outta here like a man.
Blood trickling down his face. A pier six brawl had nothing on these two athletes. While a very small part of Payne was a bit disappointed at the outcome. Inside, he was smiling. XXL pushed him to his limits and beyond. He wasn't angered nor was he upset. XXL truly earned the right to win this match. Tonight simply wasn't Payne's night. In the back of his mind. Payne knew that someday, sometime later down the line. His day would come.
With his head held high. Payne wipes the blood gushing out of his massive cut above his left eyebrow. Grabbing a microphone nearby, demanding that XXL's music be cut off. As he had something to say:
XXL ! First off, I just wanna say great match my friend.
The fans react, cheering for both individuals.
Believe me, out of the previous fights we've had against each other a year ago ? Not one of them come close to what we were able to create here tonight. Gotta say that this match was worth the hype.
To make this short & sweet ! I am a man of my word, 'champ'. I made a promise earlier, and dammit. I'm gonna live up to my word.
