"Here is your winner and the new XWA Pure Champion, Magnus Von Schwartz!"
That was the official word from the ring announcer moments after Magnus successfully pinned Kayn after a hard belly-to-belly suplex. It was one of those surreal moments for a fan of the XWA. Ten times prior to this night, the now former champion's hand was the one raised at the end of a Pure Title match. Ten men had tried to obtain the coveted belt and ten men failed. Twelve men in total tried to defeat Kayn furthermore, and all had failed. More than half of a season had gone by the "Death Metal Goliath" stood alone in the distinction of being truly undefeated and undisputed.
Roach: The ring announcer has said it, but I still can't quite believe it. It's a stunning victory for MVS here tonight...but the question is, do you consider it to be an upset?
Buzz: At this point, anyone beating Kayn in a Pure rules match would be an upset. It seemed as if it was something that just couldn't be done, but somehow that exactly what Magnus did. Not taking anything away from the man, but...a twelve match win streak here? That's serious business.
Roach: Well, that's a mark that I doubt anyone will match. I've said that I'm sure when XXL had his streak and then Bryan Jasta had his, but this one is just insane! But look at this, the man who ended both the win streak and the title streak is a man who minus TAC in the last month defeated the man who would become the World Champ, the former World Champ and the undefeated Pure champion! You talk about impressive, there you have it.
You could sum up what the announce team said like this: it would have taken a man of high physical and mental caliber to be able to defeat the XWA's mightiest Combatant. On this night in the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, that man's name was Magnus Von Schwartz.
As the referee handed Magnus the Pure Title, you could say that a torch was being passed as well. An impressive reign and an era of dominance had come to a closing. The question now was whether there would be another in the history of this prestigious title? Time could only tell that, but the one thing that was for certain was that a new era in the history of the Pure Championship had just begun.
