"Tear Away" hits the PA, and and even more cocky Scott O'Dell enters the arena.
Buzz: I was afraid he'd show up. Let's get ready for the Scott O'Dell gloat fest, ladies and gents.
Scott, donning an black suit with a red tie makes the familiar walk down to the ring. He grabs the mic supplied on the steps as he climbs them, and enters the ring. As the fans hail down boos at him, he stands with the smirk to end all smirks on his face. After a few moments, Scott raises his mic and speaks.
Van Hayden battered me last week. Van Hayden bludgeoned me last week. Van Hayden even managed to bloody me last week.
Scott taps the bandage on his forehead.
But there's something that he didn't do. That he couldn't do. Beat me. I took everything that Van had. Every bit of offense he could muster. He fought me with every ounce of his being, just like I knew he would. Because a guy like Van goes all out, whether it's a dark match or a championship match. And everything he had, wasn't good enough. After everything he could throw at me was thrown, I slapped on the Venice Beach Vice, and Van slapped on the ring...tapping out.
The boos of the fans increase even more.
Ya' see, Van. It's just like I said last week. It takes more then just skill to be a champion. It takes what I like to call..."It". Not everyone has "It", but those that do, rise above the rest. And that's why I'm sitting atop this industry. You've got so many people who try to fake "It". And they all fall flat on their faces. But what is..."It"? Allow me to explain. "It"...is the ability to take the best that a man has, and rise above. The ability to even when the chips are down and you're facing a sure fire lose, to dig deep, find "It" inside you, and win. And like it or not, no one...NO ONE...in this business has "It" more then me. Many have tried, all have failed. And that's...just the way it is. *Heh heh heh* Now I know that you've got "It", Van. You have to. Anyone who can stand toe to toe with Bryan Jasta and beat him HAS to have "It" inside him. Well I think I proved last week that you're going to have to dig that much deeper if you wanna leave Las Vegas still in possession of the National Title.
Scott rubs his chin before continuing his point.
And speaking of which, I know that last week, we said that we'd have that match tonight. And that I would get to pick what kind of match it'd be. Well, I got to thinking over the week while I was enjoying the Vegas high life. Why would I want to beat you for the title on Takedown? I want it to be on a much grander stage. So you're in luck. I wanna push back out title match for Solstice. Why? Because I want to prove tonight without a shadow of a doubt that I'm better then you. Tonight, I wanna see what the worth of Van Hayden is. How he responds to a critical lose. I've had one this year, when I lose to Ethan Bain for the World Title. And how did I respond? Well...you can ask Adam Devlin and Brandon Payne that question. *Heh Heh* I'll even do you the solid of choosing tonight's match. Just so I can show you that no matter what kind of match it is, I'll beat you in it. So let's hear it, "Champ"?
The always cocky O'Dell waits for the arrival of Van Hayden.
