The ID08 PPV continues, and the sounds of No Doubt's "Just A Girl" begins to play. Alexis Valentine steps out to the MSG crowd and receives a warm ovation. Looking around, she's a little start struck at the fact of being in this most hallowed of halls in the sport of wrestling. Walking down the aisle, she was smiling and slapping fives with the fans.
Rose: Here's a young woman who is slowly but surely making a name for herself now isn't she?
Lucy: No doubt about that. I like Alexis Valentine, and you know? Because she's one of the most genuine girls I've ever seen in this business. I spoke to her earlier, and what she had to say was really down to earth. She knows and understands that to make it in this industry you have to pay some dues. She's confident in herself, but not the point where she thinks that she's bigger than anything or anyone else. That kind of humility is really rare.
Rose: Well, when last we saw here, she gave a a galant effort against Jamie Fury but fell short. I'm sure that obviously, she has designs tonight to get back on track.
Wow, this is really, really exciting you guys. Standing here in this ring, in Madison Square Garden of all places. There are wrestlers who never get to wrestle in this building their entire careers! It's like being a Major Leaguer and playing in Yankee Stadium for the first time. The history of this place, the pageantry, the tradition...it's just amazing!
For the last few months, I've been trying to find my niche in the Diamond Division. I might not be doing gangbusters out here like a Jamie Fury or a Sonya Robbins, but I think that I'm doing alright, don't you guys?
*applause & cheers*
I've had my ups and downs like anyone else in this business, and right now, right here in MSG, I want to give it another try. I want to put it on the line, leave it in the ring, and any other clever little phrase I can't think of right now. The Diamond Division's really busy tonight aren't they? Well, I know there are a few out there who're itching for some competition just like I am. Now's your chance ladies! Let's see who wants to punch in!

The sound of Korn's "Make Me Bad" is her immediate answer. Suddenly the crowd response is not so warm the moment that Tiffany makes her appearance. She looks down to the ring and smirks at the sight of Alexis standing front and center.
So this is what I'm going to have to settle for tonight? Oh well...beggers can't be choosers.
Strutting down the aisle, she makes it a point to keep her distance from the screaming, ranting fans as much as possible. It was certainly a mutual hatred.
Rose: And what do you make of Tiffany so far, Lucy?
Lucy: Well, she's a gifted athlete, no doubt about that. She dominated Marisol a few weeks back and lost one hell of an Ironwoman match against her back at Soul Survivor, but her problem is that she's a little stuck up.
Rose: A little you say? She prances around as if she's royalty or something. Being good at what you do has little hope when you're as snobby as this young woman is. From the looks of it, losing at SS didn't do much to her ego as far as bringing her off her high horse!
Stepping into the ring now, she's handed a microphone and stares eye to eye with Valentine.
"And what have we here? An eager young woman ready for action. Alexis, your ambition...it literally bleeds from you. I wouldn't be so eager to jump into a lioness' den however, because your call isn't being answered by just any other "Diamond". I made the travel here to New York to enjoy all the things this marvelous city has to offer to one as privileged as I, because let's face it...New York City is becoming more of playground for the rich anyway. Your rents and transportation fares are on the rise...the cost of living here is the highest in your entire country! Soon, none of you common people will even be able to afford living here. Tut Tut..."
"Enough of that though, the one thing that I wish to enjoy even more of my holiday in New York is laying waste to a hapless victim inside the confines of the squared circle...and you my dear Alexis, are going to be that sacrificial lamb. You even saved me the trouble of coming out here to challenge some other fool-hearty woman."
"I have much frustration to release from narrowly losing to Marisol Cardinale...and you will be that point of release." |

Tiffany's appearance was a shocker for Alexis, and she pointed out the reason why in her response...
Well, I'm a little surprised here Tiffany. Didn't you say when you first arrived on the scene that you were only interested in facing "the best", and here you are standing in the ring with little old me. I guess you must've come to your senses in realizing that you're no different than I am.
All the money, all the riches that you have...in the end, you're still a rookie in the XWA and you just like me have to come out here and prove your worth to these fans before anyone can take you seriously, which by the way...I should let you know that I don't, so you can take all of that "sacrificial lamb" garbage and toss it!
I hope you have enjoyed your "vacation" here in NYC so far, because later on tonight, all of your fun and good times are gonna come to an end. I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that I'm going to be easy pickings, or else you're going to be in for a long night!

A feint little giggle can be heard from Tiffany as she raises her mic to her lips once more.
"Underestimating you? Oh no no no, I don't underestimate you. I said this before and I'll say it again...I don't under or overestimate anyone else, I merely accurately estimate myself...and in that I'm fairly confident that I can beat you anyone else I choose to face."
"Thinking that you and I are on the same level though? Ha Ha Ha...how mistaken you are! Unlike you, the approval of these fans mean nothing to me. I do this to satisfy myself. This is a business to some, a livelihood to others, but to me it's merely a hobby. I don't need to respected or loved by these people, by you or by anyone else, and in that respect you and I are nothing alike."
"I can and will prove my worth to anyone who is willing to test their mettle against me, that is if they're brave enough to do it. So many of our "peers" become so caught up in their own little universes that they use it as a smoke screen to hide from someone like me who can easily defeat any of the so-called "best of the best" that this company has to offer."

Tune-up? You know what? You're right. I am a tune-up. A tune-up in the respect that tonight we're going to see what you're made, and more important than that, I'm going to see what I'm made of.
Then we'll see who actually needs tuning up and who's just fine the way they are!

Suddenly, a huge surprise comes as the familiar drums that start "Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gub" begins to play. The crowd comes to their feet as Hayley Jonas, half of the Sapphire Champions makes her presence known.
Rose: Oh wow! Here's someone that I didn't expect to see coming out here right now? What do you think she's after?
Lucy: Whatever she wants, Rosie. Whatever she wants...more than likely a fight if history serves correctly.
With a mic in hand, Hayley stood on the stage and began to address the situation.
Did someone say "tune up"? Well, in listening to what Tiff had to say there, about the only bit of it I give a crap about is that stuff about getting rusty. Sitting around waiting for some other team to finally grow the gumption to challenge Kim and I for the Sapphire Titles, I figure...why should SHE be the only one in action tonight?
Masterson, you said something also about how the vets use their "business" as a smokescreen to not face off against the new competition? Well, you might be right about that, you might be wrong...but at least for tonight's sake you've got one vet's attention...and oh yeah you better bet your bottom damn dollar that I'm more than interested in seeing how you'll do against the best of the best, staring with the TOUGHEST of the best! I might not have the matches in volume this year, but I've made due with the ones I have wrestled though, that's for sure.
Seems like the moral of this story is "testing yourself". So tonight, how about I give you two a pop quiz Triple Threat style here in MSG?

When it looked as if it was going to be a one-on-one encounter, here comes a third...and what a third it was! The appearance of Jonas literally excited Tiffany. Here was one of the very women she had been dying to face off against, practically throwing herself into the fray.
"Well, if it isn't the legendary "Hellcat" herself. Ms. Jonas, you are quite the perplexing one. I've seen you in action and I wonder how for the life of me can someone so raw and unpolished be so successful? There isn't a single shred of technique in your entire repertoire. What you display in this ring isn't wrestling. I wouldn't even go so far as to call it "brawling". It's just simply...fighting. Like how one would if they were in a back alley or some sort of "fight club" like in one of those god-awful films that glorify it."
"As effective as it might be, it does not impress me one bit. It would be a pleasure for me to demonstrate to you how a true, refined fighter such as I conducts themselves in this ring. Maybe you can learn something from a mere "rookie", hmm?" |

Well, it looks like we're in for a good one tonight then aren't we guys? Alexis Valentine, Tiffany Masterson and The Hellcat in a Triple Threat Match? Tell me that's not awesome. Girls, I wouldn't forget about me here if I were you. I could just as easy slip in and steal the show. In fact, that doesn't sound like a bad idea!

Hayley's last words on the subject was a little something for Alexis, and a lot for Tiffany...
If the opportunity knocks Al, you'd be an idiot not to take it. Just don't think it's gonna be easy to do that with me around, I have eyes in the back of my head. Tiff, I'm gonna have to correct you on something, though.
See there is actually technique behind my game...I like to call it "beat a bitch's ass!" I've never been the kinda girl who takes other people's shit. I don't give a damn about someone's reputation, or upbringing or accolades. It all comes down to one thing and one thing alone to Hayley Jonas, and that's how much fight you've got in you when the bell rings, and there isn't any woman in this entire business who's more of it than me!
It's really simple when you think about it...if a bitch had her nose in the air, I'll break it. If a bitch wants to show her ass, I'll shove either my foot or her head up it! If a bitch wants a straight up, knock-down, drag-out scrap, I'll give it to her with a bag of chips and a 25 cent juice to wash it down! I cater to all types, shapes, forms and styles, and I do all the same way...MY way. So far, it's been working damn good, so if I don't sound like I give a shit whether or not I impress you, well...it's cuz I don't! Just bring your true, refined ass down to this ring later on tonight, and just like Alexis said there, we'll see what your made of.
Wasn't much more left to say after that. The stage as it were was now set...

And her theme hits once again. This scene was done, but not over.

Lucy: Honestly, I can't call it. We all know how unpredictable a Triple Threat match can be judging by how some have ended the past couple of weeks. The most I can guarantee is that it's going to be good!
