"Never Gonna Stop" plays over the arena and the fans come to their feet in cheering as the newly crowned Pearl Champion is set to make her first appearance with championship gold. Out Sonya steps from the backstage area with the title in tow, waving and smiling to all the Atlanta fans. It was a euphoric moment for her, being able to revel in a little success.
Rose: Last week, Sonya Robbins proved herself in my eyes. Not just one match, but two against some of the stiffest new competition in the Diamond Division, but she pulled through, and now...she's the new Pearl Champion!
Lucy: I think she's gained a lot of respect from last week, but Sonya's been a hard working gal from the very start of the season. Maybe a bit under the radar compared to others, but she's been getting noticed by all the right people or else she wouldn't have been in the Boot Camp Match in the first place!
Rose: Excellent point there.
Sonya stepped into the ring, and like many before and many after was handed a mic to speak on the events of the last week and those that would happen this week.
You know, I've got this warm, fuzzy feeling inside right now. I just can't truly explain how stoked I am being here, standing in the center of this ring as the new Pearl Champion! Last week was one of the toughest nights I've ever had in some 2 1/2 years of being a part of this business, but at the same time it was one of the most rewarding. Dare I say...THE most rewarding of my career so far!
I have to give a shout out to the two ladies who pushed me to the limit last week. Anjelyka is one no-nonsense woman who doesn't believe in going easy on you, and Jamie? What more can be said about Jamie Fury that hasn't been already? 18 minutes in this ring against her will definitely teach you a thing or two about how ready you are for the best competition in the world. She's held it down for a while now and gained a lot of respect along the way, not just with you fans but the fellow wrestlers as well.
Somehow I mustered up the gumption to beat her last week on the way to winning this title, and somehow it feels to me like the torch has been passed. She took it and ran with it, and now it's my turn to do the same thing. That's why I'm out here tonight. Tonight will be the night of my first Pearl Title defense, and I'm poised to make it so that it's not my last one either. I've worked too hard to get to this point to have someone slide in and take what I just earned from me, so to whoever steps out from that set and states their want and need for this title, know the fact that your want and your need for this title pales in comparison to MY want and need for this title, and you'll win it when you pry it from my cold, dead fingertips!
With that said, I ask to the Diamond Division...who wants it? Come and get it!
