It was a stunning moment. A shock to some who had grown accustomed to Jamie Fury being the Pearl Champion. The Double Deal would in fact continue this night, but the two Diamond left were both the new challengers. As the ref called for the bell, Jamie could only lift herself up breathing heavy as one would after a grueling match. Across the ring Sonya was doing the same, but she was going to have to muster up the energy to continue on, face Anjelyka and walk away the new Pearl Champion.
The one thing at that point that was guaranteed was that there would in fact be a new Pearl Champion. The title wasn't hers anymore. After 2 months of her making it into a coveted prize and it making her into one of the XWA's top performers, it was all over now. She and that belt were parting ways. The fans clamored in appreciation as she slowly got to her feet. Even Sonya who found a way to win joined them in applause. They chanted her name.
It brought a smile to her face. This was what it was all about. To have the respect even in defeat means that you've truly arrived and now more than ever it was evident that Jamie Fury had made her name. She gives the fans a curtain call, waving high towards in them in thanks of her own. Then she slowly made her way towards Sonya, extending her hand to congratulate her.
That was a great match you put out there Sonya. Now finish the job.
Even defeated, her competitive nature shined through, and the two shared a mutual smile and embrace before it was finally time for her to leave the ring. The roar of the crowd was deafening. It was the first time in months she'd be walking backstage without that title in her hand, but she felt no shame for that. It was even trade, the Pearl Title for respect. For admiration. For now being called one of the best female wrestlers in the world today without question. Stopping at the stage, she turned back to the crowd again and waved once more. Their cheers never dissipated, and neither did the smile on her face.
Rose: Wow, this is like the end of an era right here. For so long we've been used to saying Pearl Champion Jamie Fury, but that's not to be anymore. It's almost surreal.
Lucy: Nothing lasts forever. You knew it had to happen sometime. These fans though, they respect what Fury's been able to accomplish over the last 3 months now. Quite frankly so do I. She's got to be the hottest rookie on the XWA roster so far, man or woman. Title or not, the future looks bright for Jamie Fury.
Soon, Anjelyka's theme would play, and it would be she and Sonya battling it out to gain what she had held so proudly. What was to be the fate of the Pearl Title was now out of her hands though. It was the end of a chapter in her career, and the start of a new one.
