The opening round of Soul Survivor takes place live on TakeDown. Earlier in the evening, Robby Sylk announce who would be on his team and made a personal challenge to XXL to form a team of his own and face his on this night.
XXL searched backstage for people who would be willing, looking for big game players to match the team of Sylk, his partner Marcus Devine and Vikram.
One piece to the puzzle came to him in the form of Marcus Samson. That left one more person to fill in the final slot, and Xander wanted that slot to be one that would make things more than interesting. The obvious choice had already joined up with a team as Jon Payne had sided with the unlikely alliance of Magnus & Syrus for this event. But that's when he got word from someone else backstage who was more than interested.
Now the time had come. The match was seconds away from beginning and all the participants were in the ring but one. Who was XXL's third member? It was a question that had everyone baffled but him, as he simply looked down the aisle and waited for the man's theme to play.

The theme that would begin to play was one that in XWA evoked fear and pure intimidation to any who stood in the ring preparing to face the man it belonged to. The COLOSSUS of Blackpool...
The arena comes unglued as Higby steps out into the arena.
Buzz: OH MY GOD!!! Roach, do you SEE this? This...this is just plain old unfair. As if Samson and XXL weren't, both me true to life super heavyweights, he pulls in XWA's only ULTRA heavyweight!
Roach: And Robby Sylk is now peeing his pants. Vikram's a bad ass, no question. But there isn't a man alive that can match the pure power of Steven Higby. Couple that with "Black Hercules" and "Superman"? Something tells me Team Devine is in for a VERY early exit.
Higby climbs the ring steps in usual fashion, stepping over the top rope. Without so much as muttering a word, he zeros in on the men who would soon be the subjects of a night full of pain.
And then the bell rings...
