Bio:
Liberty Marin fell in love with wrestling at fairly young age. Growing up in a household with 3 older brothers played a factor into things as well. Her brothers were huge wrestling fans when they were all growing up, and Libby naturally became one as well. Because of her upbringing, she was also somewhat of a tomboy, constantly competing with her brothers. At 17, Libby and the youngest of her brothers Daniel made the decision that they wanted to be more then fans, they wanted to be wrestlers. So much so that they built a makeshift ring in the back of their home, and held their own "events". They both came up within the backyard wrestling craze of the early part of the decade, but eventually saw that if they really wanted to make names for themselves, they needed to get out of the backyard, and into the REAL ring.
At 20, Libby would join the training school of the New American Wrestling Federation (NAWF) along side of Daniel. While training, they would also wrestle for the New England based promotion. Libby began wrestling under the name Liberty Lang, and her brother Daniel under the name of Dan Manson. (At the time, there were 2 other pairs of sibling wrestlers, so NAWF decided to use the Marin siblings as separate characters.) Libby quickly became a fan favorite because of her all around skill in the ring. She wasn't great in one area, she was good in all of them, which made her the most well balanced female on roster, and a sure fire contender for the Women's title. It would be a full year in NAWF before she would win the title (As the writers felt it would be better to wait to have their best female talent hold the title to give it, and her major heat). Liberty's title run would be the longest of any NAWF talent, male or female, as she held the women's title an astonishing two years.
Now 22, Liberty began realizing that NAWF's women's division was lacking. Many of the females were there when she debuted had left because they simply couldn't beat her popularity. She was even called out on it by one of the females named Stacey Raye, who broke character in a shoot aimed at the reigning women's champ. This prompted Libby to respond by issuing a challenge to Raye. In what was considered one of the most brutal matches in NAWF history, a beaten and bloodied Liberty prevailed after delivering her finisher "The Liberator" to Raye through the announce table. But in a radical and controversial turn, Liberty laid the title across the fallen body of Stacey Raye, grabbed a mic and quit the company. The firestorm of Libby's action was immense, as fans were outraged that she left. No so much at her, but at NAWF for not acting quick enough to quell the situation.
Liberty stepped away from wrestling for a year afterwards. She'd been scorned by the experience she had in NAWF. However, she was soon called by her brother Daniel, who still worked for the company. At the time, Libby had moved to New York, and now worked as a personal trainer for New York Sports Club. Daniel informed her that NAWF was now under new management, and the company was being totally restructured. Daniel at the time was the NAWF World Champion, and one of the few superstars that wasn't let go in the buy out from the old owners. Libby was reluctant to get back into the ring, but she agreed to return to Boston to see the new product in action. And she was impressed with what she now saw. The competition was leaps and bounds greater then when she left, and of course the competitive juices in her began to flow again. Liberty agreed to appear in limited fashion in the "New" NAWF, just to get a feel for things again.
Off and on Libby would do NAWF shows. Her matches were always the most watched amongst the females, and many wanted her back full time. In early 2007, after nearly a year and a half of limited appearance, Libby made it known she was coming back full time, met with the approval of all NAWF fans and many of it's superstars. True to form, Libby worked her ass off in 2007, and soon found herself number one contender for the belt she dropped nearly 3 years prior. She would defeat the then Women's champion Kendra in a hard fought match that saw Kendra show the ultimate respect, handing Libby the title herself (Which was met with praise from fans and most wrestling critics as Kendra was a career heel). She would hold the title the 2nd time for 7 months, losing it August to one of her old rivals that remained in NAWF Nayoko Kazuhide. For much of the rest of 2007 into 2008, Libby continued to work for NAWF, as she does to this day.
However, she soon realized that the time had come to go bigger. Regionally, she was as popular as you could get. But the rest of the world knew nothing of her. So she began looking for something new. A company that had the talent and influence she needed to become even more in the industry. And the place she would come to find, was XWA. For months she'd done her research, even attending many of there early 2008 shows. One XWA scout recognized her in the crowd, and gave her the offer to work some dark matches for XWA to see if the XWA fans would take to her quickly. She agreed, and as expected, she was widely excepted. It was only inevitable that she was offered a contract just months later. Libby now joins the active roster with great anticipation for what she hopes will be a stellar XWA career.
