Ethan Bain's music cues up, and the crowd comes to there feet as the reigning XWA World Champ enters the arena. Wearing a black muscles shirt, blue jeans and work boots, Bain walks to the ring with the title slung over his shoulder. Climbing the ring steps, then over the top rope in usual fashion, Bain stands in the middle of the ring and holds the title out with one hand. The crowd responds with cheer. After receiving a mic, Bain speaks.
Here we go again, eh folks? Another sold out crowd. Another XWA PPV. Another World Title defense. But before I go into my opponent tonight Syrus The Entertainer, I want to speak on a few things. Everyone's favorite loud mouth Robby Sylk was out here earlier tonight, and he said something I found quite interesting. He said that I'm a "Borefest" champion. Is that right Robby? I can understand your plight, really I can. I mean, I can see how I'm boring. I come down to the ring. I stand toe to toe with the guy across it, and I proceed to kick his ass. But not with all the filling the arena with hot air and BS that you're SOOOOOOOOOOO famous for doing. And because of what I do, I'm World Champ, whereas you're chasing your 1st XWA singles belt still to this day. I'll take me being boring anyday of the week, Robert.
The fans cheer the champ on. Ethan nods with a grin and responds.
Now, onto tonight. Tonight, I'm to take on Syrus Sykes. AKA Syrus The Entertainer. A man who I have NOTHING in common with. Or do I? Let's go back to 2007, folks. Syrus and I came into XWA some 2 months apart from each other. I came in towards the middle of the season, Syrus came in towards the end. Both of our defining moments as rookies came at the hands of two the business's best. Syrus' coming by way of Jon Payne, mines by way of Dru Nedermeyer. And since then, you could argue to say that Syrus and I have reached the points we are in XWA on a similar timeline. Me, by doing what I do, kicking ass and taking names. And Syrus by doing what he does, putting on a show for you all week in and week out. You could say that Syrus and I are self made men. We came into this business nobodies, but we etched our places in XWA landscape while other people bitched about not getting their due.
Which brings us to tonight.
The fans continue to cheer in anticipation.
Syrus has busted his ass the last three months, and the top brass have seen and recognized it. The fans have seen and recognized it. The guys and girls in the back have, and more importantly so have I. No, Syrus is in no way the same kind of wrestler I am, but that doesn't change the fact that I respect what he does. I respect that he's one of the best workers in the game today. And I couldn't have asked for a better opponent tonight. But Syrus, I ain't Magnus. And I damn sure ain't Chet Dixon. Tonight, you go up against The BIG Ticket. The premiere Big Man in the biz. And I intend on bringing it 200% tonight.
I fought through five of XWA's best to win this belt, and defended it against a man who is as much as everyone might hate his damn guts the benchmark of this company. And I intend on keeping this belt until the man who never lost it gets back to the top of the pile, so that I can fight him one on one, and not just settle who's the true World Champ, but who's the BEST of the best. So bring every ounce of offense you have. Bring every trick in the book you've got. Because Ethan Bain is ready to fight. Not wrestle...FIGHT. And may the best man win.
Bain's entrance theme cues up once again. He drops his mic, and makes his way out of the ring.
Buzz: Ethan looks as focused as ever tonight. And rightly so. Syrus has been on a TREMENDOUS tear as of late. This could shape up to be a match of the year candidate.
Roach: No question about it, Buzz. This is a match that everyone as a fan can appreciate. Two of XWA's best and brightest going toe to toe for the biggest prize in wrestling. I can't wait.
