What Went Wrong ? (Steel Cage Aftermath)

The match was over. Just like that... in a bloody spectacular matchup. Primo & Sledge prevail. Genesis, who stood outside the ring after climbing over the cage is in complete disgust. Surprisingly not at Primo for once.. but at his own partner.

What the hell man !? We had this thing won... whats the matter with you !

Genesis yells from the outside... seeing Lionheart lying on the mat in pretty bad shape. Gen. opens the cage door and enters the ring with his partner. He approaches Lionheart and tells him:

Dude.. we had this thing in the bag ! All you had to do was climb the cage or go through the door. I told you to go for the win. When I was climbing out of the cage. We was in good shape at the moment. Primo was dazed, and Sledge was down. You could've followed my lead... but NOOOO ! You had to put your ego ahead of everything else. Typical Lionheart I tell ya. You just had to go after Primo & Sledge all by your lonesome.

I really don't know what else to say to you other then you failed... you failed me... you failed the people... and you made us look like a joke in front of these fans. Hell, I'm sure Primo & Sledge are having a good laugh right now as we speak. Tonight was OUR NIGHT !!!

And you.... BLEW IT !!!

Genesis walks away from Lionheart. The fans.. don't know what to think of this point. Genesis is irate and frustrated. Seeing red at this point, if looks could kill. Lionheart would be six feet under right now.

After a few seconds gone by. Genesis walks back over to Lionheart. Hands at his side. He goes on ahead and offers his hand to Lionheart to pull up off the mat. But then...

You know what ? On second thought...

Genesis turns his back on Lionheart. Walking over to the cage door, opening it, then proceeds to make his way back to the arena. Fans start to boo at this point. The least Genesis could've done was help his partner up off the mat. At this point, Genesis wanted nothing to do with him. Aggravated...Frustrated....Angry....Fatigued....Battered & Beaten. All of these emotions and feelings ran through Genesis like a cold chill down your spine. He just didn't know what to think or what to do from here.

*Backstage*

Genesis makes his way backstage. As he does, one of the XWA backstage interviewers stops Gen. for a comment.

Genesis. How do you feel about what had just gone down after the match ?

How do I feel....HOW DO I FEEL !?!? What kind of stupid question is that. Its plainly obvious how I feel right now. Quite frankly.. I'm so mad and bitter about this whole thing.. that I can't even see straight. Far as I'm concerned. Lionheart, granted, we both have had our issues and such from the old TNB days. Tonight, you had a chance. A chance to prove to me and the world that you 'still got it' !

Earlier tonight.. during that promo we did together. i saw a glimpse of the old Chris Lionheart that I knew and used to look up to during my rookie year. But what I saw tonight in the ring ? Was FAR... from the Lionheart of old ! See Chris, at one time. You used to knock your promo's out of the park and back your words up in the ring. Now.. all you are is talk... nothing more... nothing less ! I really don't know what to do with you anymore. Because now... I don't know if I can even trust you to be at my side again after the display you've shown tonight.

And as for Primo... hehe... you might've come out with yet another win at the expense of my pittyful excuse for a partner. But rest assure. This thing between me and you is far from over ! Straight to point Primo... you.....are a DEADMAN !!!

Genesis walks off from the interviewer. Making his way towards his locker room area.

o2 Lionheart, Primo, or Sledge.

Lionheart watches Genesis's interview on a monitor in the trainer's room. He lays on the gurney as the trainer fits him with a neckbrace. He watches Genesis talk about how he finished the match on his end, and simply shakes his head, causing himself much pain.

He pulls himself up, and pushes the trainer away as he tries to help him. He walks out of the room and staggers towards the locker room area. Finding Genesis' room he gives it one loud bang to act as a 'knock', and barges into the room.

What the fuck is your problem? Talking all that shit about ending the match and even harking back to old TNB stuff. Wait, let me guess. Is this the infamous 'heel turn' that we always see? Genesis looses a few matches or feels that things aren't going his way and turns into a dick? Sure seems like it. But that's not even what has me pissed off right now.

Genesis tries to cut in, but Lionheart stops him.

WHO the fuck cares if we lost? Since when was it about winning a palpy little wrestling match? I fought Nigel Sledge in 'his' match up the other week to gain a little measure of revenge because the greedy Son-Bitch attempted to take me out for good and collect the bounty that was on my head. I could have had him in any other matchup - even a 'safe' match for me, like Submission. But did I? Hell no! I chose 'his' match to show him it wasn't about a match, it wasn't important weather I won or lost, it was a war! I'm still going after Prime because of the bounty, and last year's shenanigans too. I wanted a tag team weapons match, you were one that suggested the steel cage. I thought it was a good idea, you know - grind some faces into unforgiving steel. I had no idea you wanted a cage match so you could climb to saftey.

Lionheart relaxes a little, and unwraps the wrist tape on his right arm, and pulls off the left wristband.

I'd be shaking my head in disbelief at some of the things you just said in your interview, but I've got this damn thing on. I never said I would beat Sledge the other week, or Prime and Sledge this week. So it's not about me not having backed up my words. I said I was going to take the fight... nay the war right to them and they'd have to kill me to stop me. And that's exactly what I did, so I think I did a pretty good job of backing up my words. For a whole 9 minutes after you exited the cage I fought off two men, and I think I was doing a damn good job of it too. There were even a few times where I managed to duck out of the way and one of them hit the other. You'll notice that I was fine up until the neck lock that Prime put on me just near the end of the match. Up till that point I wasn't holding my neck or anything, and I was still holding my own. As soon as that neck lock was put on me, I felt something go 'pop' and I was in excruciating pain, that's why I was holding my neck after I got up. I got up and like blood in the water that shark Prime put me straight back down again with a hard closeline to the throat.

Lionheart makes a hand gesture as if to wave-away the current topic of conversation.

I didn't realise that getting a tick in the win column was so important to you. But that's not what's important to me. To me, what's important is that I take the fight right to these guys and let them know that they're not finished with me, or rather that I'm not finished with them!

I have an idea for next week. You let me know if you like it or not. Some people around here say that I'm self-absorbed, and really I don't mean to be. As I understand it, you have a tag team called Payne Inc with Romeo Davies. How about next week we have an elimination 6man tag with the three of us against Prime, Sledge and another Coalition member. What do you think about that?

Genesis reaches over and grabs a bottle of water. Twisting the top off and takes a few sips. Taking a few moments to calm himself down. Still steaming over the loss. Lionheart sure had alot of guts showing his face right now.

You have alot of nerve getting in my face right now. I said what needed to be said earlier. If you don't like, then thats your problem. Not mine brother.

Genesis takes his red trenchcoat jacket off. Tossing it to the side, then starts taking his gloves off. Then taking a seat on a nearby chair. Running his fingers through his hair.

*sighs* Look.... I'm sorry. I'm just...frustrated right now. I mean, to me. I felt like we had this thing won, ya know. I just really wanted to get back at Primo from the PPV. To show him that I'm not a joke. That I am what I say I am... and that is the best pound for pound in this industry today. On the microphone and in the ring.

Now... I just look like a fool... perhaps... Primo is right. Maybe he is the better man ? I don't know... I'm just at a loss as to what to do. I come out here... week in...week out...giving it my all. Yet sometimes I feel its useless if I can't actually back everything up in the ring.

Its not that I can't take a loss or anything. I mean, just look at the record books. I've won just as much as I have lost. But, what kills me is. Here I am, giving Primo my best work on the microphone. Yet each and everytime. I just can't seem to beat him in the ring.

I'm starting to question my own abilities... whether I still have enough juice left in the tank to carry on through all of this.

As far as your idea goes... I'm cool with it. I'll talk with Romeo about it later. I'm sure he'll go for it as well. I've been wanting to get him iinto something next week anyways. This would work out perfectly.

Genesis takes another sip of his water.
