*Takes place after the March Madness match*
The match was done. In rapid succession Jamie had surprised both Cosette Grace and TEN, and just like that she was the new Pearl Champion. "Their Law" began to play and the fans were cheering wildly in satisfaction of another quality match-up that the Diamonds of XWA put forth. Now, one of the vacant titles had a home...and as the referee handed her the belt she couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.
She raised her arm holding the title high for all to see as the referee once again had raised her hand in victory. It was a coronation of sorts. Tonight Jamie Fury wasn't just another newcomer, she was a champion. As much as she wanted to revel in this moment, she knew that it could only last for but so long before she had to worry about doing the one thing that's even tougher than winning a championship...keeping it.
She crept out of the ring, her muscles quite sore from the grueling match-up and right there at ringside was Fabiola for an on the spot interview with the new Pearl of XWA.
Fab: Jamie! Congratulations on becoming the new XWA Pearl Champion! How does it feel being in this position right now, only your second match and now you're a titleholder?
It feels great. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am right now, and how surprised I was to be honest with you that I was even selected for the match. I have to thank the Commissioner of the division Sarah Warfield and Ms. Blackheart for the opportunity.
Fab: Well, you certainly took advantage of the opportunity. Now the question is...what's next for you?
That's something I've been asking myself ever since the bell rang and the ref handed me this title. Each of the girls who I faced tonight are still worthy challengers and that's not even the start of it. I know that right now I can't pick or choose who I want to face, and to be honest with you, that's not something I had planned on doing anyway. Cosette, you and I have another match that needs to happen one on one, and if this title is on the line when that happens then I'm perfectly fine with it...but if someone else slides in and makes a challenge, then I'll take them on just the same.
In either case, I don't plan to be a transitional champion...and you can just forget about calling me "interim" either. I EARNED this prize, one that was vacated because the former holder mishandled it. That's not something I plan on doing Fabiola, nope...I plan on making this championship mine for a long, long time and bringing it a newfound honor while I do.
This goes out to all the rest of you ladies out there...if you want it than come and TRY to get it!
