Sitting backstage in the gorilla position, I was a bit nervous. In a few seconds, I was going to meet an XWA audience for the first time. Within minutes, I was going to introduce myself and call out a legend. No time to worry about what I was thinking. The time is now.
Sushi-X's theme, "X Gonna Give It To Ya" plays out the loudspeakers and I confidently stroll out to the ramp area. I hold my arms in a sign of an X. I walk briskly to the ring as some of the fans touch me. As the pyro goes off, I'm surprised by the crowd reaction. I thought it would be dead silence because I was an unknown, but I got a small pop. Better than nothing I suppose. I ask for a microphone from the ring announcer.
My name is Sushi-X, and I have come to XWA to make my mark. I'm going to cut right to it. I'm sure some of you heard this man recently on the talk show "The PUNCH LINE". He's a legend in this business. He's a monster. He's unbeatable. But I want to find out for myself. I would like for Dru Nedermeyer to come out to this ring, because there's something I need to know.

The theme of Dru "Monster" hits the PA. He steps out into the arena met by the adulation of the New Jersey crowd.
There he is. One of the best in the business. THE MAN!!!
You've gotta wonder what the heck is on Sushi's biscuits to come out and call out the big man. This is gonna be interesting.
Dru makes his way down to the ring and climbs the stairs. Once inside, he takes a look at the masked newcomer before calling for a mic.
You wanna find out for yourself, eh? You wanna get in this ring, and go one on one with me? ME? *heh heh* You've got guts, kid. You've got some serious guts. More guts then brains some would even say. But I'll tell you what. Next week. Gampel Pavilion. You take the "test"? I'll give you the schooling you're lookin' for.
Dru lower his mic and waits.

I gave some thought after looking at Dru. Man, was he huge. At least 6'8", well over 300 pounds, the man that has beaten everyone, dominating them more often than not. Was I crazy? Was I over my head? I picked up my mic.
The monster. The man. The myth. The legend. Maybe I do have more guts than brains. Maybe I'm not all there. Maybe I'm a bit crazy. But I do know this. After next week, I will be known as THE FIRST MAN TO BEAT DRU NEDERMAYER. You got yourself a match!
Sushi-X drops his mic and looks into the eyes of the monster. He had to show no fear because Dru would show him no mercy, and he knew it.

Dru simply looks on, and smirks. He sets his Mic down on the ring as well, and shoots one final look at the young Sushi-X before backing up to the ropes. He drops down to the mat, and rolls out of the ring.
You've gotta admire the tenacity of the rookie Sushi-X. But next week, it's gonna be like...like...The 2007 Oakland Raiders vs. the 1972 Miami Dolphins. He's gotta be giving up at LEAST 200lbs. in weight and WELL over a decade of experience to Dru.
That he is. But still, we can't count the kid out. If somehow, someway, he was able to pull it out. To pin "The Monster", it may be the biggest upset in wrestling HISTORY. Hell, if he can even survive against him I'd be impressed with him. It looks like we'll find out what kind of grit Sushi-X has next week in Connecticut.
Dru walks back up the walkway. At the stage, he turns around and looks that the young man one final time, before exiting the arena floor.

I watched as the monster left the main floor and into the backstage area. There was something I wanted to ask so badly. But I knew it wasn't time. I had to find out for myself. With a hint of doubt in my mind, I left the ring for the backstage area myself.
