Bio:
Angelique Diaz has spent her entire life. Growing up in south central, everyday for "Angel" was a struggle not to fall through the cracks of the troubled section of Los Angeles. Born to a Father in and out of Prison, and a mother who spent most of her adult life an exotic dancer, Angel's house was not much of a "home" growing up. She was often left to fend for herself, or seek aid from her two older brothers Eduardo and Thiago, both gangbangers. Despite the path they led, they cared greatly for there baby sister, to the point where the oldest of the two, Thiago, took another man's life for her. At 17, Angel was seeing and abusive 20 year old who was a member of a rival gang. Her brother's disapproved, but they felt she should live her own life. One fine, fateful day Angel returned to there home with a black eye and a swollen lip. She lied to her brother's saying she had got into a fight at school, but hours later, Thiago was informed by one of his "Veteranos" that she'd been beat up by the boyfriend. This shot Thiago into a fit of blind rage, that would end with him emptying the clip of a .45 Cal. Dessert Eagle into the young man outside of his own home. It wasn't until the young man lay dead, with the screams of his family filling his ears that Thiago realized what he had done.
Thaigo was tried and convicted to Death Row for Murder 1. It was an experience that changed Angel's life. While she was greatful that her brother went to any means to protect her, the fact remains that he killed a 20 yr. old man. A man that she despite being his punching bag more often then not, she cared for. The last words Thiago said before he was taken to serve his sentence to his family was "This was my mistake. I'll pay for it by myself". His way of saying for them not to visit him. To forget about him. For the next year, Angel wasn't herself. She started to change. She began wearing all black, covering her face with eeiry make up. Her outward appearance began to resemble the torment she felt inside. This worried Eduardo, and even her parents, but Angel always pushed her family away. In her mind, she felt responsible for her ex-boyfriend's death, and for Thiago being on Death Row. It was a lot for an 18 year old to bare.
Angel graduated from High School at 19, and decided the time had come for her to move on. Away from South Central, and the bitter memories it had. She ended up moving in with her best friend, Tia Halston in Santa Monica, where they would share a trendy loft. It was big enough that she had her own space, but Tia was never to far away. Tia unlike most of the girls from there school, didn't aspire to be an actress, or a singer, or anything of the sort. Tia's love was wrestling. Since they were children, Tia loved it. That was what Tia wanted to become. A Pro Wrestler. And in Junior and Senior year, Tia trained at a local gym (The same gym that gave birth to Scott O'Dell's career) and was quite good for a female, seeing as she was a standout Volleyball and Basketball player in school. One day, Tia decided to take Angel with her to a show she was working. Just as something to do, and Angel spent most of her time in solitude still. Angel was enamored by the experience. It was like nothing she'd ever seen before. Sure, she'd seen it on TV, but not like this. This was "real". It wasn't about money, it was about men and women doing what the do for the love of wrestling, nothing more, nothing less. Following the show, in a bold move, Angel asked Tia is she could get into wrestling as well. Tia was elated that her friend wanted to join her, and a week later, Tia took Angel to her gym, where she began training as well.
On year would pass before Angel felt she was ready to get in the ring. Now 20, Angel made her debut as Tia's Tag Team partner. She would wrestle under the alias "Anjelyka", but her attire was anything but. She wore red and black leather straps on her arms, and a red and black lace & leather Bodice Dress she had tailored herself. Her striking yet intimidating appearance lent itself well in the ring to the fact that she was a 5'10" amazon. The two dominated the match, and many matches soon after. Tia and Anjelyka would gain plenty of hype on the west coast, traveling as far north as Seattle and as far south as Mexico to compete. They toured the indy circuit for over 2 years until Tia decided the best course for there careers would be in Puro Joshi wrestling in Japan. By this time, her family now knew of her chosen path, and while her parents weren't very thrilled, Eduardo loved the fact that his sister was a wrestler, and quickly became her biggest fan. So the two 22 yr. olds hopped on a plane, and travel to Tokyo.
Tia and Angel would spend the next 2 1/2 years in Tokyo, wrestling and training. Angel would began taking up Shorin-Ryu and had become a very adept fighter. She was trained by Grand Master Shiba Tenryu, who had a son who was also a wrestler, Masamune Tenryu. Tia had began dating Masamune, and the two were married after a 1 year relationship. They're still happily married to this day, and continue to wrestle in Japan. Though still as close as sisters, there wrestling careers had branched off in two directions. Tia was content in following her husband and wrestling by his side, whereas Angel now had her sights on returning back to the US. In Japan, she was a formidable force in the ring, mixing traditional wrestling with her extensive Shorin-Ryu skills. In America, she could become a legend. After living in Japan for some 3 years, Angel returned to America in January 2008. Her goal: Make a name for herself in North American wrestling, just as she did in Japan. And the place for her to do so was obvious. XWA.
