Bio:
Bryan Jasta is a man who came into the wrestling world quitely, but in the end became one of, if not THE most feared, imposing and intimating figure in the modern era of wrestling. Jasta's career began in the defunct Syndrome Wrestling Alliance (SWA) organization, where his gritty, throwback style of wrestling earned him the nickname of "The Shooter". Jasta was quickly put in main event caliber matches against the company's top stars, and rose to prominence scoring high profile wins culminating with the 1st of two World Title reigns. He'd lose the title the 1st time in a triple threat match he didn't factor in the decision to Nigel Sledge, before capturing it second time by defeating "The Defiant" Jens Defi in a bloody battle. Months before the company folded, and disgusted with the way management handled things, Jasta in a bold move spat on the title, claim it wasn't worth the leather stitched on it, and dropped the belt citing a lack of competition for it. It's still unclear if this was an actual incident, or just an angle, as 3 months later, SWA folded due to financial and legal woes.
Jasta would spend most of 2006 on the road, wrestling independent shows in Europe, Australia and Japan. It wasn't until early 07 that he'd return to North America. After a brief stint in a Toronto based organization, where he walked out citing the lack of professionalism of the rookie company, Jasta spent the next month in the North East, wrestling at house shows and indy promotions until XWA came knocking at his door. Jasta was at first reluctant to sign with the company, but then a name was thrown out that caught his attention...
Chris Lionheart.
For some time, Jasta wanted a shot at wrestling Lionheart, and at the time Lionheart had shelved TNB and made had made several appearances in XWA. It was a shrewed bit of leverage, but Jasta was signed to XWA after a mere week of negotiation. In his first appearance on XWA TV, Jasta would boldly call Lionheart, but it was the mysterious Lunasic who would answer his challenge. In a series of matches, Jasta would essentially prevail by way of a 1st Blood Match, and in the interim reveal Lunasic to be none other the Sylas Styles. Eventually, Jasta's calls and jabs at Lionheart would be answered, but by this time, Lionheart had another problem in the form of Primo Valiante. An alliance was obvious, as Primo and Jasta were practically cut from the same cloth. For the next few months, Jasta would feud with the likes of Lionheart, Blade Myers, The Avenger and Adam Devlin until a prime opportunity came up. The then vacant XWANational Title. It had been nearly two years since Jasta had gold, and he'd over the course of 2007 racked up win after win versus all who challenged him. Two over Devlin and Myer respectively.
The SECONDSHOT Battle Royal would be the night Jasta took his spot officially as one of XWA's top tier competitors, as he'd become the 4th National Champion in so many months. With the prestigious title in his mitts, Jasta would catch fire in late 2007. He'd successfully defend the title against the likes of Van Hayden, Vincent Venom and Evan Fate in two consecutive matches. (becoming the 1st man to ever best Fate two in a row in his young career) Even as a champion, Jasta again set his sights on another established veteran, "The Titanium Wall" Testudo. For the better part of October, much as he did to Lionheart, Jasta would make disparaging remarks about Testudo saying that he was "Past his expiration date". Testudo didn't take kindly to this, and upon being defeated for the XWAPure Title, Tesudo waited the mandatory month to put forth a challenge at Jasta, hanging his very career in the balance.
In what's been called one of the top 5 matches of XWA 07, Testudo would best Jasta in an over 20 minute contest, handing him probably the second most decisive loss of his career. (The first being a Steel Cage match months prior Vs. Avenger, where admittedly Jasta was routed) This would set the stage for there Xgames clash, this time with the National Title up for grabs. Jasta would come up victorious in this contest, tie the benchmark set by Xander Xavier Luther for most successful Title defenses in XWA with five. A fitting end to what had been the year that Jasta rose from the ashes of SWA to again establish the fact that he IS the best shoot wrestler on the planet.
In 2008, "The Spartan" looks to continue his dominance. By season's end...it'll be the WORLD Title he plans to have draped over his shoulder. And so "The Dawn Of Domination" continues.
