The good folks at Code-X have recently posted the all important match modifier codes. It's safe to say that we are officially ready now to prepare for 2008. However in light of certain gameplay issues and the like, there will soon be posted a list of what kinds of matches we are totally staying away from in 2008 and which are are available to whom based on fighting style and "other" factors.
Stay tuned.

You won't have to. The majority of matches that will require hacks are going to be X-Gen matches, and those are all me.

There was never a big abundance of matches that used them in 2007, I don't expect for that to be the case in 2008 either. Even Tag matches which we normally put the Ring Out code in for will probably be done normally as they FINALLY improved the AI enough where it's not needed. Most hacked matches will be big matches, and big matches will be afforded only to those who're putting together great storylines.

Put some limitations on the Submission/Ultimate Submission match. The match can go on forever, unless one of the characters has a hefty amount of struggle submission moves. "Pinning" in submission matches no longer puts the opponent in submission moves, but moves that damage the leg or the head. IIRC, pressing down near the legs is that one leg damage move that Orton does, and pressing down near the head is a knee drop.
I sim'd a submission match between a character that hold no submission holds, and one character that had one, see what would happen. The match lasted over 30 minutes, and the SS Boston Crab was only applied three times. What was interesting, was that the announcers stopped talking around 20 minutes into the match.
Figured I bring this up, since this topic was talking about match types and such.

We're already in the process of pretty much laying out what kind of matches will be available to what kind of characters. We're going for realism this season in terms of the match cards for shows, so it'll be ONLY in the case of a REALLY well worked rivalry/storyline that you're going to see say a LMS or 1st Blood match on Takedown. PPV's sure, but the weekly show, no. The general rule behin Submission matches in 2008 is that if you don't have it as a fighting style (Primary OR Secondary) you ain't gettin' a Submission match. We'll post a detailed list within the coming weeks as we continue to test things.
