As everyone drops his or her promo for Soul Survivor, one individual has yet to comment on his match on the card. That man’s Ryan Zlabe. It seemed like the past month, Ryan had totally ignored Kris Cade. It seemed like he wasn’t going to prepare at all for his big match against the former champion.. It seemed like he didn’t care. He’d been caught up with his real life stuff. With the new wrestler, Maniac, questioning Velvet’s loyalty to him, his head was spinning. The fact that Maniac managed to pull a win over the Pure champion wasn’t to good on his soul, either.
The scene opens up on the streets. The sun had gone down, and the eerie glow from the moon reflected off of his body. Ryan stood there alone, and by that, it was obvious it was late in the night. Ryan finally spoke up.
Maniac, congratulations, my good man. You managed to pull one over on me, and for that, I applaud you. I applaud you because you’re the first man to actually get a pin on me since I won this championship. Hell, you’re the first man to beat me ever since the era of Zlabe began. To me, that just proves you’re a talented individual. However, I don’t take kindly to people who disrespect me, and more importantly, I don’t take kindly to anyone who can beat me. And I know, as soon as you get the time, you’re going to brag about ‘how you beat XWA’s Pure champion’. Just know that I’m not going to fall victim to your silly mind games. Let me bring up the first fact. When I called you out, M’ac, I told you we were going to have a PURE match. And guess what? You broke the damn pure rules. I know there’s nothing stopping you from leaving the ring, no cage or cell, but I thought you’d have the balls to face me in MY match. Eventually, I followed you out onto the floor, but that’s because I wanted to continue the damn match. But, let’s get onto something else.. This is more about the mind games. Do you REALLY think I’m going to be bothered about falling to a former world champion? Maybe you think these fans are stupid, and honestly, I’d agree with you.. But you can’t pull the wool over my eyes. The only way I can fall is by losing to a former world champion. Maniac, my friend, you just added fuel to my fire. Thank you.
A smug expression fills his face. It was obvious that the loss didn’t affect him to much.
But no, that’s not why I’m here tonight. I just needed to get that off of my chest.
Now, Ryan steps forward. The moon’s glow still radiated down on him. This light made a weird effect on him. It made him appear a bit more pale that usual.
Kris Cade. Tell me something, Kris, what honestly makes you think you can knock me down a peg? Because I remember when I challenged you, you thought I was below you one the ladder of success, and guess what? Now I’m holding you title. It’s really rather funny, actually. I had the worst record, then BAM! I’m champion, I’ve got the girl, and I’ve got the good record. Things are shinning in my direction, eh? The world’s in MY hand, Kris.
But, because I’m nice, I’ll break it down for you. It’s all like a game of chess. I’m the king, and you’re the pawn. My goal is to stay on top of the mountain and reign supreme. Once I finally lose, the games over. There’s nothing I can do to get back into the game. That’s what will drive me to beat you. Your goal, however, is to take me down. It’s the exact opposite of my goal. You take each step slowly, making sure you don’t lose your way. You’ll need strategy, smarts and raw power to take down the king, because the king’s bigger and better than you. So, after this explanation, what’s really your drive? In the eyes of the king, it’s nothing more than fame. But hey, when someone beats me, it’s a big deal.
Cade, you won’t beat me. That’s a promise. I’ll admit, you’re a talented man. You’ve got what it takes to be a champion. However, I’m just that much better. I’ll remember our fight at Soul Survivor, Kris. Because this match will be the last time I see you. You’re not going to pull an Austin Harris and challenge for the title as often as possible. Do you get it? Good.
Ryan crosses his arms. He’d got his word out, and the stress had come off of his chest a bit. Now it was time to relax before Soul Survivior.
