There's no right or wrong method to making CAWS, it's just a matter of how it is that you want the CAW to look. The real trick behind it is to take in and uses as many ideas as you can to get a certain look down pat, be it face, body or attire. When you're someone like me who's already used to making characters from scratch since I'm a comic artist (or aspiring anyway, lol), it's a breeze...but for those who don't have that know-how it's still pretty simple and fun to do if you apply yourself to it. The easiest way I'll always suggest is to take a look at other people's work. If you like a certain design element or body build, use it in a creative way! Don't go copying it now...that's never cool, but you can take the concept and implement it into your own work. Take the CAW Kunk for example. Before seeing him I didn't know myself that you could mish-mash face paint like that and get so cool of an effect. With that knowledge I took different element but the same concept and came up with the evil clown style facepaint for my HappyFace CAW. Take a good long looks at the "real" CAWS that people make. Study the morphing they use to get those distinct features in both the face and the body and take them to note. You don't have to stop there for ideas either, there's a whole world full of them out there, as simple as running a Google search. You can get half-way decent pics of just about anyone in the world. Use them as reference to build different faces. Observe different features on different people and ALSO different races as well. Take note of how the facial features of say, and Asian person looks compared to a Black person. The same applies to wrestling gear or attire as well. Check out wrestling gear vendor sites...here's a few I look at for inspiration: www.empirewear.com/www.eztights.com/mainpage3.htmlwww.misterwrestling.com/progear.htmlJust browsing these spots will give you some ideas on attire designs, and from the it would be easy and fun to figure out what kind of wrestler would wear said kind of gear. Kinda working the opposite direction, but hey it's worked for me dozens of times. There is no textbook, handwritten, set in stone way to make good morphs or attires, or else everyone would be able to do it easily. It's all in how you apply yourself in doing it yourself. You have to research, study, take in ideas and experiment frequently, that's the only way to create CAWS that will appeal to you. That's another thing, don't try to make something that looks or reminds you of someone else's work, like say...I don't know...mine, lol. I mean if you want to go right ahead, but you're not learning anything by emulating someone else. I prefer once again taking ideas from other people's work and other places and applying them all together to create a look.
