If you could make a wrestling game what would you put in the game as far features, I ask because I'm working towards becoming a game developer and one of the idea I've been working on in my design journal was a wrestling game and since we all here play wrestling games what features do you want to see in a game.....

- Very open storymode that allows you to play over and over without getting the same BS over and over again - Create A Match type. Pretty much the ability to mix and match match types like...Ultimate X inside a Six Sides of Steel (if those were available) - Create An Arena - Better arena hotspots and opportunities to do very cinematic like match spots - Gamble. This is an idea I've had cooking in my head for a while. Mainly the premise of it is, you have all your finisher slots filled, plus a flashing finisher bar, your character has a specific button combo that you hit and it takes you into a cinematic cutscene like sequence. Wrestling matches in real life almost always end with some sort of predicament coming up so one of those will unfold...but the twist is that if your opponent reverses the combo, that it turns in their favour for the win...I hope that made sense. Anyways thats all I have for now, hopefully you like the ideas .

I had an idea like but I called a story finisher, basically the premise was similar to yours but you would have to save 2 finishers and what would happen is basically one of those photographic finisher, where your guy would basically do like his opponent's finisher or do some kind of impossible move.
oh by the way Check!

I just had a flash of inspiration branching storylines!!! Let me explain, your CAW would follow one over arching storyline but depending on what decisions you make in and out of the ring your CAW would be classified as a face or heel by the game IE commentators talking about you, how other wrestlers talk to you or which wrestlers to you. Now this idea would run through the whole game and won't be like Smackdown where you get asked a question once during the whole game. Let me know what you think.....

*digs it* I myself had an idea about how your character is developed but it sort of takes away from the whole "kayfabe" aspect that most games cling to. It would pretty much be along the lines of this: You character is a young aspiring wrestler etc. etc. You start out with pretty well no stats and an extremely bland and plain moveset. You have the chance to go to maybe...3 of 5 different gyms, each having a signature wrestling style perhaps: Submission, Lucha Libre, Martial Arts, Striking, Hardcore...something like that. During each session you learn moves which are reflected in your moveset and your character begins to develop as a wrestler. These could be small matches where you face a non attacking character and do different moves to the person...at some points maybe training you in reversals for the specific style so it goes more in-depth then clicking the style you want and carrying on, it actually requires some work. As for stats you gain them by doing small minigames whether they have to do with button pressing games, timing minigames...you choose. You do these and they develop your stats and your character's build will morph along with the challenges as you complete them. After going through these sessions and building up your moveset, you begin to work shows with a small indy corporation (small town type of deal.) So all of the afore said stuff could work as a tutorial of sorts for the game as a whole. Once you start doing shows you could have maybe...five matches with the federation in which you get a better grip of competing against the computer. After these matches you hear news of a talent scout for a larger farm fed (much like OVW I suppose) is coming to a show. At this point you have a match on that night and have a randomly chosen challenge to impress the scout (something like successfully hit your finisher twice or do five aerial attacks to your opponent). If you complete the challenge then you move onto the next stage. You have a meeting with the scout and your eventually taken to the farm fed. You rapidly make a name for yourself competing in matches and gaining "star power" (more or less experience points) by completing challenges such as the ones I've mentioned (beat your opponent in under 5 minutes, reverse a finisher etc.). Once you've complete a pre set amount of these challenges, you are once again in a meeting with the owner of the large company. During this process you answer a few questions that will reflect on how your used within the company. At the end of this survey of sorts your given a choice of maybe three character gimmicks and what alignment the company thinks you should use. After this you create your characters name, finishing moves and entrance. Once you have chosen your characters gimmick, you are brought into the main story mode which then has you facing the branching storylines and angles within the company. After you've beaten the game you can have the choice of starting the game over from the very start and going through the intro to the main game or just starting with a star of your choice and get thrown into the large company. So thats pretty much my idea in a rough sense. I hope you like it...I personally would love to play something like that and have the game go more indepth into the actual aspect of wrestling not just the layer that WWE allows you to play out. I do know that certain aspects of this mode would break wrestling game kayfabe but hey...theres ways around that .

that is actually good..really good more than I had planned at the same time it is very long. When developing a game (especially a wrestling game) you have to take in account who will be playing it, people like us who love wrestling to the point we participate in e-feds would play the hell out of that game but for the average consumer (who make up most of video game industry money) it might turn them off. I'm not saying that it's all about the money but if i have any chance of my game coming to a store shelf near you then that idea has to be toned down maybe start out at the farm fed level with not a crappy moveset but a limited one or have a gym partner who show you new moves to add to your moveset. To be honest with you when I started with idea in my head I had no idea that the game industry was so money driven at least from the publisher side cause now ya talking multi-million dollar budgets for lower-tier game much less decent games. But have no fear I will get this game made and it will be the bomb. I'm thinking of e-fed mode as a part of the online or maybe replace a piece of it. and oh by the way Check!

Yeah as I said, I knew the mode would have to be watered down for reasons that a six year old who wants to get their kicks by playing as some John Cena rip off, won't want to go through something that in depth, let alone understand that its fairly realistic. From the point where I said it would break kayfabe, I was implying something along the lines of it being a limited market for something that indepth. Thanks for the positive feedback though.

not a problem like I said I just wanted to see what everyone's two cents about a new game not attached to any wrestling company, now I got another question for everyone in XWA and I mean any and every person, staff, dude or dudette
Some of you have CAWS that are legendary at least to this community would you put one in a game if someone *point at himself nonchalantly*asked you to....

I'm not saying it will happen in the near future but if you see an email from someone asking about it, just ask them if they used to e-fed if they say yes, ask who, most likely it will be me
