The Miz is nothing on the mic compared to The Rock. That's like comparing Kobe to Jordan. Just because a guy can talk doesn't make him as good as the best talker in wrestling. I think you need to go and check YT vids and refresh yourself on just what The Rock did with a mic in his hands. Miz doesn't even come close, nobody does.

Rock was good, great even. The best though? No. Rock was best for his era, but Flair in his day [late 80's early 90's} was so far ahead of what Rock was capable of it's not even funny. I'd also put Foley and Raven ahead of Rocky as well. Go watch any Raven ECW promo, or any of Foley's ECW stuff. Foley's "Cane Dewey" promo is stuff of legend.
I stand my ground on this, comparing Miz to The Rock is a valid comparison.

For the WWE: The 80s era, Hogan, Ric Flair, Piper, etc were great on the mic. The 90s era, HHH, Rock, Austin, Shawn Micheals, etc were great on the mic. 2000's era.....I'm drawing complete blanks as the 2000 era was shite. Now we're starting the 2010 era and we have Orton, Miz, Wade Barret, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, etc who are good/great on the mic. Comparing era's is pointless because each era is different. The Hogan Era(which is essentially the "start" of WWE being nationwide, if not world wide was far more "pgish" than 90's era when violence, sex, drugs, etc were the "it" factor for the WWE. Rocky is without a doubt ONE of the greatest on the mics. If were to say who comes close, I would put Anderson before Miz. Miz is still coming into his own, just like Orton was a few years ago. Within the next 2-3 years, Miz will start peeking with regards to Mic skills. At the end of the day, you can't compare different era's, because the landscape was different enough that it was nowhere near the same. The only way you could compare them as to who was better, is if the Rock was still active, which he isn't.

That's the thing, I'm not keeping them in their own eras. Yes I said Rock was best for his 'era' which was only a few years. I was giving the Rock his due respect not separating into eras. You mis-interpreted what I meant, He said Rock was the best on the mic ever, I gave examples of people who were better then Rock in every way on the mic. Setting them side by side(Miz and Rock), yes comparing the two is valid. Both are/were no better then average in the ring, their strong suits are/were mic work.

No better than average? What are you smoking? The Rock was fantastic on the mic. You do realize that the WWE gave him free reign on the mic to say what he wanted where as the others have to follow a script, right?

This will be the last I speak on this. If you can't see that the Miz has worked his ass off for WWE over the years he's been with them, then I don't know what to say to you. Sure the man isn't great in the ring, but neither was The Rock, Steve Austin, John Cena, or Randy Orton. I can see what Vince sees in Mike Mizanin. The man is a hard worker, and he is a fan of the business. The man has always wanted to be a pro wrestler and last Monday Night he achieved one of his life long dreams.
Before he actually got to the WWE, he trained at the same place John Cena and Samoa Joe did UPW. He jobbed for them when he was better then half of their roster at the time. While he was doing that he attended Improve nights at comedy clubs to work on his promo skills. Then when he was signed to WWE developmental he made it a point o to move to the head city of the company he was working for. [MSW and OVW.] Then he was brought up for Tough Enough on Smackdown, where he barely lost to Daniel Puder. Then he went on to host the Diva Search that year, and 'hosted' Smackdown for a while. During those times again he showed how good he was at talking and working the crowd.
From the first time he actually wrestled till now, Miz has shown love for the business and dedication to stick with it and get better. If you still only see Miz as "The Real World Guy" you need to grow up.

I never said the Miz wasn't good/great. He is really good on the mic and is getting better in the ring. I do however, believe he has a few more years before he starts to peak.
