After the mysterious early events of the TakeDOwn show, the program comes back after a break and the sound of Magnus Von Schwartz's theme begins to play. The crowd reacts with a chorus of boos as the man who regards himself as the best pure grappler in the world makes his 2009 debut.
In typical MVS fashion, he arrives on the scene in a clean cut black business suit with shining black leather shoes, a white shirt and a solid black tie. He makes his march down the ramp towards the ring once again, and as always he shrugs off the meaningless rants of the crowd with a stonefaced scowl. Clearly, this is a man who is as the term goes "all business".
Buzz: The time off certainly didn't do much for Maggie's people skills, has it?
Roach: Like him or not, the man has proven that he is one of the best in the game today. He can't be happy after the defeat he took at XGAMES to Jon Payne though. That I think was probably the most convincing defeat he's suffered in his entire career...this being the man who ended Kayn's undefeated streak in 2008 as well has having a pinfall victory over former World Champion Ethan Bain.
Buzz: You sound like you're a fan of his or something? Yeah, he's good...I'll admit that, but the problem I have with him is that he just thinks he knows so much!
Roach: He has over 30 years of wrestling experience, Buzz. That's as much in-ring time as we have years breathing.
Magnus now stood in the middle of the ring. He looks around the arena to the mob of screaming, rabid fans with their childish boos and begins to speak into the microphone he's been granted.
I come to you tonight with a mission in place. A goal to reach, a strategy to implement. It's not quite as you may think it to be though. For those who have paid attention, of which I doubt would any of you simple minded New Yorkers...my ambition was to deal a measure of payback to a man by the name of Jon Payne.
Cheers erupt from the mention of "The Evolution".
That man opened my eyes last year when he shed my blood in this ring. He opened my eyes to what true ruthlessness means. Hmph, he speaks well, he speaks in the way that satisfies you simpletons. That makes you stand behind him, yet in my opinion, he is in fact one of the most cleverly evil men in this business. He may talk like a hero, but his actions...heh...are more villainous than any man who claims himself to a be quote-unquote "bad guy".
I digress however. In my months of training and preparation, it dawned on me that if my goal is retribution, then there is one man who even more than Jon Payne, I need...I desire to deal the hammer of vengeance. He is a man whom has dealt me defeat not once, not twice, but three consecutive times precisely one year ago from this day.
His name is Syrus Sykes. Also known as Syrus The Entertainer...our current World Champion.
The roar of the crowd from the mention of STE now was deafening. Magnus sighs heavy before he continues.
You see, while I did defeat you afterward Syrus, the satisfaction waned. In truth, I have only done to you once what you've done to me thrice...and I believe for there to be true vindication that I must best you again, and again, and again. That is why I stand before you tonight in this ring ladies and gentlemen, and why it is that I beckon the presence of the XWA World Champion, right now.
And so he and the crowd alike now awaited the acceptance of the invitation to the ring.
