The match was over. Michael was bloodied and beaten. Simon had bested him again. It almost seemed pointless to continue fighting. Michael's morale was slowly becoming dismal. No matter what he tried to do, he couldn't put up a decent fight to save his life. It made the wins that he did get this season almost worthless.
Michael was helped to the back into the Dr's office to get checked out and stitched up. He rested on the table while the Dr looked him over. Dr: Are you feeling ok? Can you hear me alright? Yes, I'm feeling fine and I can hear you fine. Just get me stitched up so I can be on my way. The Dr nodded and began to prepare to stitch up Michael. Michael sat there and wondered where his career had actually taken him. In the last few years, it didn't seem to take him very far. So many had passed him by. He was a veteran. He should in where the other main eventers are. But he's stuck, doing things like mindless feuding. Is this what his career came to? Who knows.
Somone peered into the room while Michael was in deep thought.

So I take it losing is just natural with you, eh?
Nathan, still the same old man even after losing his own match, leaned against the door smirking at Mike X. He had his arms crossed, doing the whole "tough guy" pose.
Mikey Mikey Mikey, maybe it truly is time to call 'er quits.

Michael looked up at Nathan. Not exactly the person he was expecting. That person would come along soon enough, but as for Nathan, Michael simply smirked.
I won't make excuses. 2008 has sucked for me. Big time. But quitting? Not my style. Never has been, never will be. Wrestling is in my blood. This business is in my blood. I'll die before I'll call it quits. Well, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but you get what I'm saying. 2008 is nearing an end. 2009 will be upon us closely. We'll see what 2009 has to bring. Each year, there's always something new. Course, the last couple of years, things seemingly have turned out the same for me. My hope, that 2009 I will become a better fighter, a better wrestler than I have been. I know I haven't lived up to my true standard. I don't know what it is that is getting in my way. Maybe it's some deeply buried self doubt. Maybe its something else. I have to figure out what it is if I am to advance.
And now, a quick witted response from you. Michael looks over at Nathan.

Witty response? Damn straight.
You must have some BAAAAHAAHAAAAAD blood, my friend. Maybe you should look at your blood tests again, man. Tennis seems more fitting for you.
Me? I too look forward to next season. This is only phase one. I don't intend on dropping like you seem to have done. Naaaaat my thing. I like winning, you know? I'd rather be a winner than a loser. I'd rather be a 'Nathan Browne' than a 'Micheal Xavier'. Heh.

Michael scoffs at Nathan.
Hows about I tennis your head for a few. I like winning too. This season though, no clue as to why I've taken a dive. Next season, I envision to be much different than 2008 and 2007. 2009, I will be coming in, full steam ahead. And with a little luck and a lot of skill on my part, climb the ranks and be where I should be. Not where someone like you would be. You aren't a main eventer..yet anyways. 2009 could very well do that for you, or it could very well keep you down as a mid carder.
One thing I did wrong though, was picked my fights wrong. Going up against Jasta, not really sure what I was thinking there. He's a beast and I'm nowhere near his level yet. I got lucky when I beat him that one match. The rubber match showed that.
2008 has been a good lesson on what not to do. 2009 will be the what to do correctly season I think.

Damn straight you picked your matches wrong. You went up against Nathan Browne and went down to Nathan Browne. Starting thinking, man. I'm going to be a hit. I never really got to thank you, though. Not for "giving me a chance", or for "allowing me the honor to fight an accomplished 'legend' like you", but to be my stepping stool. Thank you, I appreciate the boost.
And, I guess you really got the senses knocked out of you, X-man. Not a main eventer? I was IN the Main Event. DURRRRR! And while I LOST, I'm not too upset. I'm young, I'll get more chances at the top spot. Hell, it took 6 men to beat me....

Well excuse me for not realizing. I hadn't really paid much attention to the other matches. So you were in the Devil's Night match. I doubt it took 6 guys to beat you. More like 1 guy to pin you, with random shots from others. All in prospective I suppose.

Maybe that's your whole problem. You're not paying attention. Wrestling is a fast paced sport, and clearly, you're going too damn slow.

Match? OH! You're a wrestler? I was beginning to believe you were here for an autograph.
Nate chuckles.
Might as well give it to ya, anyways. Sell it on Ebay and make yourself some cash. You'll need it to support your little 'activity' there...
Nate says as he points to MG's weed stick.
I don't know who you are, and quite frankly, I don't care. You're nothing. Why don't you walk your ass out of here?

Most of the time, I do pay attention, but you could be right. Maybe I'm not giving the attention that I should be. Maybe I'm letting things slip by me that I shouldn't be. Maybe it's something else.
Off Season is coming up. It'll be a good time for me to refocus my efforts and do whats necessary to prepare for the 2009 season, because I refuse to let 2009 be a repeat of 2009.

A cold breeze whisked across the room. Simon Fierhart stood in the distance, seemingly appearing out of thin air as if he'd been in the room all along. He opens with a small chuckle.
It never gets old watching you kids bicker about such meaningless things. "Picking your battles wrong". "Being a main eventer". But then again, I guess I could expect nothing less of "children".
Simon steps out from the virtual shadows he'd appeared from.
But when I say children, I don't just mean age...seeing as I'm old enough to be all 3 of your fathers. I speak in mindsets. Michael there is on the right track, but there's still a lot to learn along the way. You 2 on the other hand? I'm surprised you can even stay in the Earth's atmosphere with how inflated your heads are. To be young and ignorant...such a blissful thing.
Another chuckle...
The very reason I decided to step back into the ring is exactly what I see in front of me. You. The next generation of wrestlers. Or should I say "Sports Entertainers", because wrestlers you're not. Not with those attitudes, or those skill sets. It takes more then what either of you have to gain that distinction. I see plenty of potential, but I also see wasted foolishness, carelessness and most importantly...immaturity.
Simon turns his focus next to Nathan.
Let's start with you. Why do you supposed you got eliminated when you actually sustained the least amount of damage then anyone for a good portion of the match? I'll tell you why. Because you're a showboat. Instead of getting the job done, you chose to squander every chance to eliminate the next guy, and ended up taking an early shower in the process.
A deep breath...
I hate to say it like this, but it's the best and most accurate way I can put in...in a way that will get across at the core of your way of thinking. You're both idiots. You both were literally gift wrapped chances to rise to the occasion, and you both failed in the long run. Back in the "Old School"...we call that stupid. And like a wise man in a movie once said..."Stupid is as stupid does". I arrest my case.
Bold words from Simon, but you'd expect nothing less. Simon waits to see if they could possibly catch on to what he was doing, or would the brash, testosterone laden bravado of either man make them say something they'd regret later?
He waits to find out...
