During the 2007 season, I pondered and contemplated a style of wrestling in XWA that had never been tapped in a sim E-Fed before. Extreme Style wrestling has existed in past feds, and in present ones, but only as a novelty. I wanted it to be more then that in XWA. I wanted it to be a statement. A lifestyle. And those, the seeds were planted that eventually became XWA's X-Gen Division. The Division is solely governed by myself, as it was an experiment between me and some core members who really dug the idea. As it turned out, X-Gen Year 1 wasn't as big as it was 1st looking like. At the start of the season, we had 22 X-Gen characters, as of this writing, we have 14. But the 14 characters we have, and the handlers behind them stuck it out and made the division a success. Some of 2008's most memorable and brutal matches have been X-Gen Matches. And we now have a number of characters that stand out and give the division life and Identity. From the 1st X-Gen champ and contender for ANY title actually Jimmy Ames, to the reigning Champ Brian Yang, who has finally found his niche, to former champions Pablo Reyes and SAIZO, to Lionel Xander to the EVER infamous Jonny Punch, The Division as I said has a bonafide identity now, and can only go one direction from 2008 to 2009. And the 2009 incarnation is going to raise the bar even higher. With the addition of the Ability feature, this gives unprecedented depth to who can actually compete in the division now. As like in 2008, the only requirements is 1 of 3 abilties: Springboard Outside Dives Object Just one of these abilities makes you a potential X-Gen contender. But it doesn't end their, as the grid of X-Gen originals will be even more focused on pushing the division. There are characters like Jimmy Ames 2009, who makes use of ALL THREE of those abilities, as well as abilities to give him a competitive edge against "normal" characters. And then you have guys like Sledge and Punch, who have foregone conventional abilities to tool up to be Hardcore monsters (Both make use of Object, Bloodshed, Ladder Match AND Table Match, making them damn near invincible in any match that a weapon is involved). That's the level of commitment these guys are willing to put into push the division even further in. And that's the level of commitment I'm looking for in anyone who decides they want to venture into "Extreme Village". As said before, to compete in an X-Gen Style match you need one of the 3 above listed abilities. But you also need to show that you're not just in it to get a quick title shot. Before anyone who isn't in the 2008 division even gets CONSIDERED a title contender, you need to have 3 X-Gen matches under your belt. They don't need to be in a row, but only when you have wrestled 3 matches under X-Gen stips (Falls Count Anywhere, Extreme Rules, TLC or "Xtreme Rules" - The combination of Falls Count Anywhere & Extreme Rules) against another X-Gen Competitor will you even be put into the equation. Key point, you have to fight IN THE DIVISION if you want a shot at the title. You're not getting a shot at the Tag Titles if you're not a Tag Team, right? Same deal here. If you want to raise up the ranks of the X-Gen Division, you need to fight your way from the bottom up. The returning X-Gen characters will have priority in title contention, and I'll base this contention of X-Gen participation. Just like 2008, you're not obligated to wrestle the whole season in X-Gen, you can branch off and do other things, or go for other titles. But what you do to gain contention for those titles is exactly that, for THOSE titles. They hold no weight in your X-Gen Title contention, and Vice Versa. f you have an X-Gen ready character, win the Pure Title, defend it twice, lose it, and then come back into X-Gen wrestling, you pick up where you left off in the division. Meaning if by that time you have no X-Gen matches competed in, you're at the bottom of the barrel, period. As for X-Gen matches, I'm tooling around with Match Mod hacks and putting together some reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally good match types that will be exclusive to X-Gen Wrestling, because what's the point of being in a Xtreme Asylum match is you can't use weapons properly? (What's Xtreme Asylum? You'll find out) In 2008, we built the division into something noteworthy. In 2009, we turn it into something that will have the Efed world buzzing. To the rest of the guys in the X-Gen "Think Tank", keep the ideas coming. And to anyone who thinks they may wanna give X-Gen Wrestling a go, you now have your marching orders.

It all sounds great Oz, the XGen division is one that has far greater potential than was shown so far and looks to vastly improve upon itself next year. I just feel that the Diamonds get the short end of the stick on this, as they are not allowed to participate in this male category. Characters like Kim who was designed to be a high flyer if you remember anything about her past, would fit in perfectly, but can't.
What's your take on this bud ??

I think what you're missing in the translation is that X-Gen requires a certain "type" of caw, just like Pure Rules does. Some caws excel beyond others in Pure Rules because they are built with the fundamental premise of Pure Rules matches in mind. Take Kayn. Tailor made for Pure Rules, and he dominated for almost the whole year. Then take for example The Bruzas in the Tag Team Division. They're both a pair of punishers. It took a match being created that they mathematically they were the underdogs in for them to lose, and even so The Burns barely managed to defend the titles in the rematch. X-Gen caws are even more a special breed because they're built to excel in a match type that can be easily dominated. I've test Extreme Rules with Cory (Who will be adding Object to his arsenal to go better with his brawling type style), and against a conventional caw it's not even funny. You get a sense that the focus of X-Gen 09 is going to be weapon usage and high powered offense. And if what Oz says holds true, and you've guy guys like Punch or Sledge who uses 3-4 abilities tailor made for that style of wrestling, why in the hell would you even think about going against them unless you can bring someone to the table that will at least make him sweat? There hasn't been a Diamond created yet that goes towards that style of wrestling. No, I take that back. There's only one, and that's Holly Woodz. As far as the ladies go, there just aren't any that fit the X-Gen mold. Not the mold need to survive in the 2009 version of it. Judging from the matches I've play tested so far, X-Gen 09 is going to be poised for some CZW/JPW/Old ECW brutality. And as diverse as the Diamond Division is, I can only see one, that being Holly, that would even come close to fitting into what it's sure to become.
A total freakin' mad house.

When were Diamonds ever a part of the X-Gen category Kim? Short end of the stick? I think not, so long as the Diamonds are doing what the Diamonds can do then what's the big deal? If you want to be in the X-Gen Division so badly then make a male CAW and be in the X-Gen Division. The Diamonds are diverse, so there's going to be a diversity in matches. That's just how it's going to be.
If you have a problem with it like it sounds like, then drop Kim and go X-Gen with a guy or bring someone in as X-Gen and use Kim as well, but enough of the complaining about the Diamond Division please? This isn't the first time you've done this, and no disprespect here but it's beginning to be annoying. If you don't like things the way they are, leave.

I say that instead of complaining about what you can't be a part of, think of something for what you are a part of Kim. That makes you look less like a kid who's whining about not getting on a roller coaster because they aren't tall enough. That's what it sounds like to me, not to sound insulting or anything. I handle both a man and a woman here, and I have no part of the X-Gen Division, nor do I have any interest, no offense to what you have going Oz.
Like Channelle said, if you want to be in it so badly, make someone for it...but don't make it sound like it's going to be the greatest thing ever and that the Diamonds suck because they aren't eligible. You don't know what might be being thought up for the Diamond Division right now, so I say it would be a good idea to keep those kind of comments to yourself until you know everything that's going on. To be honest, it really didn't have any reason to be said in the first place if you ask me.

I don't agree with Kim on the Diamonds getting the short end of the stick here, BUT attacking her because she is stating one small thing she doesn't like? That's a tad bit extreme and uncalled for. Aside from the small bit of ad-hominem, I agree with Channelle
Now onto the matter at hand. Like XXL I have no real interest in competing in the X-Gen division. I see that it will be something good, great maybe but it just doesn't trip my trigger a something that I'd like to do. It reminds me of the OLD ECW and even though I won't have a place in the division I will probably be paying close attention to it come the 09 season.

You obviously missed the point that I wasn't complaining about this, not at all, because if I did I would have been much more vocal about it. Much more vocal. I was just saying that something like this to me always seemed like both genders could've done. I know us Diamonds are diverse, I know that, I've just felt that we could be much greater than we are already. That's all I want, I'm not doing or saying this for me, I'm looking at helping make the Diamond division cooler than it already is. Something like this, as well as other things would help do that. I really think it would. I am not complaining about the Diamonds in any way, I said the things at the beginning of my previous post because, I'm not sure why okay maybe saying the short end of the stick wasn't exactly what I meant. What I just said above is what I really mean, I don't have any gripes with us or our division I just want to see it flourish more than it has. As far as the latter comment that I should make a male caw, I sorta had those kinds of plans for next year depending on Rachel anyways. The other thing is I'm sick of you telling me to leave, I'm just getting the impression you don't want me around at all. If you do, just say that. I love it here and don't plan on leaving anytime soon or ever till I stop doing this period. I am not complaining please understand that.

I'm not attacking anyone, just stating that making a comment like that was only going to end up rubbing people the wrong way. It's not like saying that was going to make Oz say all of the sudden "Okay, the X-Gen Division will be intergender", so what was the purpose of it?
For the people who are carrying the Diamonds (and I don't mean that to say that you haven't done anything), the fact that it's not intergender is not a big deal, so making it sound as if it needs to be or that without something like that the Diamonds are or will be lacking can be taken as insulting to what it is that they've been doing.
This whole topic is supposed to be about the X-Gen Division itself, not another discussion on what or if the XWA will be intergender, hence what was said by Kim didn't need to be brought up at all here. Another topic maybe, but here it just sounds like whining. Sorry, but that's what it sounds like and it only succeeded in veering the topic off topic.

I don't want anyone to leave and I'm not trying to force anyone out. It gets to the point though where you hear enough of "if we could do this" or "I'm not satisfied with that" and you think to yourself why is this person even here? You do realize that a majority of people who try to politic their way into changing things that happen here are no longer here, right?
There's a few reasons why having Diamonds in the X-Gen Division wouldn't work and the most obvious is that it's unrealistic. Men do not wrestle women, not all the time anyway. Maybe that was cool in LXW or in VWE, but this is neither or, and for the longest the admins have been advocating realism above all else. The last time the subject of men vs. women was brought up, a majority of people said they were against it, and I doubt that opinion is any different almost a year later.
Like XXL said, there's no telling what's being thought up for the Diamonds, or for anything else that isn't X-Gen for that matter. If you really wanted to make things better, then you'd be a part of thought process for the Diamond Division, like the idea with the belts for the league you had, and not just making a comment that can indeed be misinterpreted as whining and cause people to "attack" you.

Alright I'll just throw it out there right now, I apologize to Oz and X in advance because I appreciate everything you guys do for us, I should've just brought it up quietly and I'm sorry......and hopefully from my giant mess here we can get back on topic......like I said back in that first post I really am looking forward to watching those XGen matches this year, the division will just skyrocket this year and I'm not expecting anything less.

There's no need for an apology here. This was an obvious "misinterpretation" of what was said, nothing more. I'm not going to side up with any one person's opinions here, though there are some that I do agree with 100%. Next time, save your personal opinions to yourself if they have no relevance to the topic completely, please? That goes to anyone and everyone.
Now, since there's going to be the desire for people to "jump into" the X-Gen Division, I can say this without Oz even disapproving that there will need to be a need for TOTAL COMMITMENT to the division. Last year, plenty of people signed up for it, but how many people stayed? That's not going to happen this time around. If you make yourself a part of the X-Gen Division, you will have to remain a part of the X-Gen Division. Not for the entire season if you don't want to, but sure as hell not for two weeks and then change your mind about it.
To that end I suggest that there be a mandatory requirement of X-Gen matches that an X-Gen competitor wrestle in. If he fails to meet that requirement, then all of his/her characters will be ineligible for titles or specialty matches for a predetermined amount of time...and I don't just mean like Soul Survivor or WarGames, but Cage matches, Infernos, etc. Basically, they'll only be in regular matches-midcard status pretty much-for however long we determine. This way we avert the flakiness that the X-Gen Division suffered from in 2008.
For those who are committed to it, namely those who've been carrying it so far, this isn't even a problem. This is more for those (and you know who you are) who like to jump onto something just because it's new.

Just wanna say that its not unrealistic per se. Just depends on the fed is all. For five years of my career I've never really stepped into the ring with a woman, except maybe once in a blue moon. All have been against men, this may be due to my size, I don't know, the booker just always had me with men. Only recently have I been facing women only, due to changing feds and wanting that of myself (I feel I can help new comers and such to the women's division and all). I realize XWA is a Men vs Men and Women Vs Women fed for the most part, just was getting this out there is all. I don't have much time for RPing anymore, or I'd definitely bring someone in for the X-Gen division, even if it meant getting pulverized by Punch (that'd be a privilege and honor actually. Punchy ftw) should I ever go toe to toe with him in his kind of match, which seems to be any that involves a weapon from Ozzy's saying. X-Gen is definitely something I'll be reading when the thread pertains to it and I'm on and watching matches of if I can. Now to read the other thread.

As one of the senior members of the division, and one of the two guys who help out fleshing things out, I can say that we're not expecting a major number of people jump in. And to be honest, we don't want you to. It happened his season with two handlers who will go un-named because I don't feel like hearing them moan. They all of a sudden decided they wanted to be X-Gen, and their caws payed the price because they got decimated. X-Gen is not for everyone, because you need to build your caw with the factors of the X-Gen style match in mind. Do you really think that there will be many submissions in X-Gen matches? Didn't think so. Does having power moves and big man abilities do you any good when with just 6-7 shots with a sledgehammer negates all of that fire power you have? Nope. To be X-Gen, you need to realize 1st and foremost that you're going to lose. A lot. Punch has won all but four X-Gen matches this year, and he's competed in nine of them. Everyone in the division has more then 2 loses under their belt. That's the nature of the beast. And to be honest, their are to many people (Some who have posted in this thread) who covet their W-L records to much to even fit in X-Gen.
Speaking on behalf of some of the alumns, we want people to come into our house who are committed to making it more. If you're just in it for the sake of adding X-Gen wrestling to your resume, we WILL see you out the door in our own special lil' way. More so then anything else, The X-Gen is a fellowship. A fraternity if you will. And how does a person get into a fraternity? By pledging to it, committing to it, and taking their lumps. If you're willing to take your character (Like Cody stated he will) or making a new character and taking your knocks by some of the veterans, then by all means, come one come all. If not, sit back, shut up and watch us do our thing.
X-Gen isn't about wins and loses, it's about putting on a show in text and in game. The X-Gen title has changed hands more then any belt in XWA. The World Title has changed hands three (Bain, Sylk, XXL) times, The Diamond Title four times (Sara Beck, Roze, Channelle, Jamie), National Title two times (Jasta, Hayden), Onyx Title three times (Alundra, Michelle, Anjelyka), Pearl Title three times (Jamie, Sonya, Amber) and the Pure, Tag Team and Sapphire titles only once the whole season. The X-Gen title has changed hands 6 TIMES (Jimmy, Pablo, Saizo, Pablo, Saizo, Yang), and Yang has defended it three times since winning it. What do we call that? Competition I do believe. And we have a smaller grid of people, so how is it that our belt changes hands so many times, granted 2 guys have held the title twice. Because the fellas are on, and consistently competing against each other. Why? Because we want to, not because we have to. I could have just as easily thrown my name into the title hat, but I was having so much fun with Aces that I decided not to. When a top shelf character like mines can forgo a potential title run and the title STILL be hotly contested for, that's a good thing. Whereas Van and Michelle went a full month unchallenged for their respective belts. Hmmm...
Needless to say as far as the X-Gen goes, we've got this. If you want to join, by all means come on in. But know that you're going to have to earn your keep, and potentially get raped a few times (Trust me, I've test seen test matches of Punch 2009, as I've worked closely with Oz in his development and if you're bringing a half assed caw against him in X-Gen, you're losing, end of story. And from what I've heard Nigel is even worse). That by itself makes X-Gen not for everyone. Because there is no parody. There is no balance. There are the strong, and there are the weak. And it WILL be exploited in game, there's no avoiding that. If winning and winning and winning some more is your shtick, don't even bother wasting our time. If contributing an entertaining character and seeing some smash mouth, extreme, bloody dripping action is, like I said, you're welcome into our house.

I know I was one of the ones that flaked out on X-Gen this season. For that, I apologized. 2008 season I was really burnt out, which is why I went on my break as it were. Since my break, I'm starting to feel refueled and thusly, my comitment will be much better this time around. I am also making a character strictly for X-Gen. I know I will lose and I expect very much to lose. Thats not what matters to me. What Punchy said, putting on a show, making entertaining characters. Thats what the X-Gen is about. So you can be damn sure that 2009, I will be withit throughout the entire season.

By it's nature, guys are going to lose in the X-Gen. Hence is why there's been so many title changes, more then any other belt in XWA as Punch documented (And dude, you pay WAY to much attention to detail to know how many times all of the belts changed hands, and by whom, lol). Ironic is the fact that the divisions longest reigning champ just so happens to be a character handled by Yin, who also held the National AND Tag Team titles for lengthy reigns with his other characters. Yin's moveset mastery aside, X-Gen matches even more so then in 2008 will decided by many other factors aside from one's moveset, namely one's abilities on top of their moves. Then there are those matches where it's just a crap shot (Like Ladder and TLC matches) where you just let 'em go and whoever wins, wins. In that, it solidifies the fact that the X-Gen division is going to for die-hards who are more focused on entertaining then winning. From what I've seen in simming the standard X-Gen match format, it's High Spot Wrasslin' at it's best.
