The one they call XXL is truly a giant among men. From his early days as a standout college and then professional football player right on into what has become a very successful career in pro wrestling, Xander Xavier Luther is a man whose action are as big as his size.
One of the most noted students of the "Skool Of Hardcore" ran by Vincent "Riot" Fate, he learned his craft not only from the elusive legend but also alumni such as fellow XWA superstar Jon Payne. From graduating the academy XXL has had brushes with success from early in his career, capturing the WTF Championship during his brief tenure there. After a long hiatus from wrestling he was poised to become a part of his mentor's fallen federation LXW, but found himself with nowhere to go shortly after it's doors closed.
It was Payne who had informed him of the opening of the XWA in early 2007 and Luther signed without a moment's notice-re-uniting with not only Payne, but also long-time sweetheart Hayley Jonas. Despite keeping in contact, the three set out on different paths with XXL's leading him quickly to yet another title, the XWA National Championship.
After winning the belt at The Night Of Champions in February of 2007, XXL would defend the title an unprecedented 5 times over the course of the season-a record that only until now has been matched (and with the very same title no less). After losing the National Title, XXL set his sights on the XWA World Title, but was unsuccessful in his first attempt at it, the first defense of then champion Keith Wyle reign as champion. From there, XXL would deal with and face off against a fellow student of Riot's that had apparently gone towards the "dark side" in the form of Tyson Terra.
Over the course of this feud they would face off only once, with XXL being victorius before Terra unleashed his secret weapon-a super soldier who did his bidding. This soldier however would begin to give Terra problems and soon his rival disappeared from the scene. That chapter over, XXL re-focussed himself on competition with the goal of achieving what he had failed to get the first time around. This opportunity first came at the Soul Survivor PPV, but after being eliminated from this unique gauntlet match, he had to go back to the drawing board once more.
Another opportunity came in the form of the Only The Strong tournament, where this time he was successful, defeating first Jonny Punch and then MG to take co-winner honors and earn a place in the main event of the XWA's final and biggest PPV-XGames1.
At X-Games the dream was finally realized as XXL eliminated still champion Keith Wyle and finally Robby Sylk to become the new XWA World Champion heading into the league's second season. Indeed a big deal, and an even bigger challenge awaits in 2008, but when your initials are XXL, doing things BIG only comes naturally.
