It was a clothesline this time. That was the answer to the question Cosette kept asking herself. The question as to how she managed to blow it this time around and what little thing she could have done to make it all better. Ducking, she decided would have been the proper course of action, but it was far too late for that.
To be fair to her the match with Addison was a bit more competitive than her outing with Kim Hunter. Who knows if her training sessions were paying off, if there was a difference in skill or if Cosette was just plain angry going in, but still she came up short in the end as Lady Lightning took her down for the three count.
Of course this situation was different. She really had something to prove to Addison and the rest of the world and it hurt even more that she failed against this newcomer that disrespected her than the illustrious Kim Hunter. There had been taunts, humiliation and the matter of her being slammed on the back of her head by her hair still to be resolved and yet she couldn’t avenge herself. She let it all weigh heavily on her mind as she sat in the women’s locker room after showering and changing post-match. Something wouldn’t let her leave.

Addison was taking off her contacts on the other side of the locker room. She was looking down on her lap, where her own personal mirror was placed. She hated the buggers, and she wondered why she allowed herself to wear such things, even though the answer was quite obvious. "Finally," she thought to herself as she pulled the last one out, and put on her glasses. Addison then stood up, put her mirror back in her bag, and changed into her favorite t-shirt. It was white, a few sizes too big, and read "Wonder Woman" on it, in Superman-like letters. A little cliche, but hey, everyone needs something a little common in our lives. She then turned around, and saw Grace.
"Hello Cosette." Addison said as she was placing her hair into a ponytail. She didn't have a chance to chat with Grace pre-match, and figured this was her moment to finally connect with someone in the fed.

There she was, Addison Grey, the woman who had bested her that night. Talk about an uncomfortable moment. It would probably take a lot of patience to get through this one, but she decided to push through. Besides something seemed different about her in this setting, more normal. Cosette couldn’t forget what happened to her before but there wasn’t anything she could do now. She stands and walks over as she watches her tie up her hair facing her eyeglass to eyeglass.
Oh, hello Addison. I guess I should say congratulations. You’ve earned it.

Addison gave her a weak smile. Addison didn't care much of winning, as long she and her opponent put on a good show, that's all she cared about. "Thanks," she said rather weakly, "But you really showed some awesome wrestling out there tonight. I felt I did one too many neckbreakers."
She couldn't help but notice the look on Grace's face. She could tell Grace was somewhat nervous to talk to her. "Is your head okay?" She asked, knowing that she really did yank on her hair rather hard before the match even began.

She rubs the back of her head and neck for a second as she asks. Cosette seems to be loosening up as time goes on, becoming increasingly aware of the separation between “Lady Lightning” Addison Grey and the real Addison Grey.
I think so, unless there’s something I’m not aware of, but no it doesn’t hurt any more. Thanks for asking though. I wouldn’t worry about the neckbreakers though, I’m sure you’re the only person who noticed. Certainly nothing either of us have to be ashamed of. So, how did you enjoy your first XWA outing?

Addison sat down next to Grace, and looked up at her, "Well, I'm not used to the gigantic crowds for one. I've never performed in front of that many people before." A smile grew on her face, "It was simply amazing, to have so many people react to your actions, rather they approve or disapprove. It was certainly surreal." As she talked, she moved her hands to help describe what she was feeling, and what she was envisioning. "I've always loved playing with the crowd, but this time, I have to admit, I was just a little nervous. You know, how you feel doubt towards something you're going to do the first time? I was afraid of how they were going to perceive this character that I play. Were they going to laugh? Were they going to even react? How would they react if they reacted?"
Addison stood back up from where she was sitting, "Did you feel similar when you first debuted?"

Oh if only she knew. Cosette laughed a little thinking about her first few days with the company.
A little nervous, well that would be an understatement. Don’t get me wrong I was more excited than I ever had been, but well as you mentioned the stage is a bit big. I was sure I’d step out on the stage and completely kill any credibility I would have developed in one fell swoop, but luckily it didn’t happen that way. I had someone more experienced to hold my hand through my first few appearances. I hope I’ve made enough of a connection with the audience and I know you’ve made quite the impression.

"Thanks," Addison responded, with a half-smile. "If we can play our cards right, I bet we can give the people a feud to remember. Our names could be compared to that of Batman and the Joker. Superman and Lex Luther. He-Man and Skeletor..."
Addison then put herself in a "evil mistress" like pose, "Of course, I'm the villain, with how mentally insane I am," she said getting into character, "We can do some crazy things, and I have some ideas on what we can pull off."

She attempts to find the opposite pose, one that said power and righteousness or some such.
I suppose that makes me the determined heroine. And here I thought my career was going to be boring.
She smiles as she stands down.
You know I really can’t wait. I’m sure this will end up being a lot of fund. And here I thought that you’d let all this go to your head, but I think I understand now. I have to tell you a lot of the people I know in the industry can’t separate reality from what goes on out there. It seems like a it causes more than its share of problems too. So it’s really nice to know you’re not one of them.

Addison shrugged, "There just isn't any fun in being in character 24/7. You'll lose yourself in it, and then, you just won't know what kind of person you are anymore. It's okay to be evil, insane, and, well, a full out asshole at times, but once you're out of the spotlight, and away from the whole 'television' or 'stage' life, you just...have to be yourself for a while. Take a break from that person you were just moments ago. Make it so you look forward to be that 'other' person next time."
She then walked over to her bag, and pulled out a portable DVD player, along with what looked like a DVD case. "You see, if I was 'Lady Lighting' 24/7, I wouldn't be able to watch my Gilmore Girls." She half-laughed as she said this.

Cosette seems to finally fully relax as she retakes her seat. The tension was gone and she didn't feel nearly as much pressure to impress as before.
Agreed on the breaks. There are plenty of subtle differences between my public persona and the real me that would be difficult to maintain. At least I think there are, I suppose that’s up for you and the public to decide, isn’t it? I just need to distance myself from it all every once in a while.
She looks over to read the DVD case herself and seems interested.
Although I’m ashamed to admit I missed the Gilmore Girls phenomenon entirely. I take it you’re a pretty big fan.

Addison smiled, and she went to her bag, and placed the first season of Gilmore Girls into Grace's hands, rather elegantly, as if she were the queen of some great nation.
She then found herself with an English accent, and talked as if she was someone of high standards, "Allow the complete awesomeness that is Lorelai and Rory devour your soul Miss Grace, learn how just about anything involving tools may be considered 'dirty,' learn that coffee is the only drug you'll ever need to survive, and that men can be total idiots at times, even in the most obvious of situations."

“God, do we really sound like that?” she thought as she examined the case. Luckily it seemed more interesting than the answer to that question. It was all new and unfamiliar territory for her, but something told her it would make for good watching once she got off the road.
Well I suppose I should give it a try. If you say it reinforces such valuable life lessons I’m sold.
