He had it in him to take advantage of the situation, nothing new. Sylk dropped his guard for a split second and that's all that it took for Jon to hoist him up and send him down.
BuZZ: PayneKiller! PayneKiller! That's gotta be it...
Jon goes for the cover and the Detroit crowd chants with each time the ref's hand hits the mat.
1...
2...
3!!!
The ring announcer makes the call...
"Here is your winner...'The Evolution' JON PAYNE!!!"
...and his theme blares over the PA once more. Another night victorious in the ring against one tremendous competitor in Robby Sylk. He raises his arms in voictory, celebrating amongst the hometown crowd.
Roach: What a way to come back home, huh? Jon Payne victorious over one half of the Tag Team Champs tonight...he's gotta be on some kind high right now.
As "Red Sam" continues playing though, something awry happens. It looks as if someone is causing a stir in the crowd...

Payne of course in unknowing of the situation taking shape, his mind still it seems buzzing over the big victory when suddenly from out of nowhere a man in a white pinstriped suit hops over the barricade.
BuZZ: Wait, what the...who the hell is that?
Roach: Someone's just jump the baiiracde and is at ringside right now, security...get this guy out of there, wait...hold on one second that's...
BuZZ: Who is it?
Roach: He's one of the XWA's newest signees actually, the self proclaimed "big money free agent" just signed last week.
BuZZ: But who IS he?
Roach: He goes by the name of "The System" Syrus Sykes, but what's he doing here? Wait...
As the announcers speak he slides into the ring with Payne still not looking or knowing of what's going on. Suddenly he blindsides him with a vicious right hand, dropping Payne to one knee!
BuZZ: That's just a classless move right there, what the hell is he doing?
Sykes continues to bear down on Payne with a series of rights amidst a sea of boos from the crowd, then goes in the big finish. Lifting Payne back to his feet he quickly whips him across the ring and kicks Jon in the gut upon return then...
...hoists him up...
...and slams him down to the mat using Payne's own vaunted finishing move! The crowd stands speechless...
Roach: I don't believe what I just saw here, BuZZ. This Syrus Sykes...he just popped out of nowhere, no warning at all and used the PayneKiller on Jon Payne! He dropped Payne with his own move!
Syrus grins deviously, not a single word spoken for now as Payne is laid out on the mat, the wind knocked out of him from the force of the slam. Just as sudden as he entered the ring he leaves...backing his way up the ramp as the Detroit faithful start tossing items at him in disgust. Sykes in reveling in his handywork though.
Roach: Jon Payne had been know as a man to make statements. It looks as if tonight the statement was made at his expense...Syrus Sykes...wow. What a way to introduce yourself...
The cameras return to Payne now, the ref trying to give him a hand...

The move affectionately called "The PayneKiller". A modified Fierman's Carry Slam, used by many before and used even to this day by many more...but mastered to a science by one. For years it was Jon Payne's swan song...the move that sealed the deal for opponent after opponent night after night. It did the trick this night against Sylk...but Jon had no idea he'd be feeling the same punishment he deals out this night.
The attack was so sudden that even he as fleet-footed as he's know to be couldn't do anything. Swift and precise was the assault and the move that knock Jon's wind out...done to perfection.
He rolls over onto his stomach, crawling is way to the ropes. He only caught a glimpse of the attacker as he bounced from the ropes toward the man before being dropped. Dressed to the 9's...looking like a typical pro athlete of his type, styled cornrow braids and designer shades. He slowly rose himself up using the rope favoring the back of his neck, the primary point which the PayneKiller targets.
Jon was pretty certain he was going to get a much better look at his attacker in the very near future...this was going to be all over the net...and it wouldn't be long before the culprit comes out into the open again.
That would be the time to strike back...
