Well, I used to sprite in my freetime when I was younger, and the only program I used to edit/splice/recolor sprites was MS Paint. I reckon this isn't any different. Just find a base model, and copy the image into paint, and edit to your liking using the tools the program provides.

What about the hair and clothes, wouldn't that be different layers you slap on top of the base model?

Then I make the attire by either doing it myself of editing something I used before. Then I add tattoos if any. Add a head then hair and done. Kevin Killer, you're all finished. Ok, so to add on Kaoz's question, the templates. How do you separate them? On that site they're all just big jpegs. Would you have to cut and paste them all individually?
